Like there’s an element of romantic rejection to this but idk seems to me like Vox got angry-upset bc he got rejected PLATONICALLY and in retrospect to boot

When Alastor rejects Vox’s partnership offer/calls him pathetic, Vox tries to laugh along. When Alastor says Vox is weak/that he’s disappointed, Vox looks insecure.

It’s not until Alastor calls it embarrassing Vox thought they were even friends that Vox gets mad

I've been getting back into comics while I wait for more info from my concept job, and I thought I'd make a post about something very important to me, which is COMIC PANEL VARIATION and HOW TO THINK ABOUT IT.

Alastor flops onto his bed drunk A: haaah days go by so fast! too fast! Wooosh cant the night last a lil longer? V: you’ll drink the whole bar at that rate A: ugh no more drinks just company V: I could stay… if you want. Talk to you until you fall asleep A: Ha! after all the talking you did today! How do you still have things to say? No thank you shush before you bore me to death! V: message recieved, I’ll get out of your hair A: see you tomorrow?

Vox tucks Alastor in, he turns to leave V: yea of course! Just like everyday! A: good, you make forever not so boring V: AAAAA how can I leave when he says cute things like that?! Siiiigh goodnight Al A: niiiight love youuuuu V: huh..? Did he just-? Wait no that’s not fair!! Tsk tell me that when you’re awake asshole

Vox leaves, Al was awake the entire time V: love you too, you stupid fucking deer A: *embarrassed deer noises*

Alastor could not look him in the eyes after, Vox teases him the entire day A: I sincerely apologize for my behavior, let’s not do drink today please. Could we go somewhere dark so you don’t see my face? V: cute. I love him V: don’t you just LOVE the cinema? Y’know I REALLY LOVE the sound quality! Aw c’mon Al, I thought you LOVED gore! A: IM GOING TO EXECUTE YOU!! Vox takes Alastor home and relays a message through their shared frequency. Alastor gets nonverbal V: Alastor. I love you. A: !??!! !? !!! ???

Like I love the idea of being weak when you’re trying to be strong?? Strength as a symptom of weakness?

Maybe I love Vox because I love the specific ways in which being pathetic manifests as power… like the way his fragile ego causes him to seek control, but that just means that the control he obtains is just a manifestation of a personal weakness and yearning for validation #Vox

Alastor is leading Vox into a dance. Vox stumbles, trying to follow his steps. A: You’re much too stiff! I thought you said you could dance! HA! V: Shut up! I’m a better lead anyways A: prove it V: gladly Vox’s hands immediately claim Alastor’s waist and wrist, pulling him close. Alastor’s tail flag up

Vox takes confident strides, swinging Alastor around, controlling his movements. Alastor is annoyed at Vox’s overconfident and overstepping smug look A: HMPH! You call this ‘leading’?! You’re just pushing me around! Be more gentle, you oaf! V: oh? You want ‘gentle’? I can do ‘gentle’ Vox then dips Alastor low, the sudden drop makes Alastor wrap an arm and leg around Vox instinctually to keep himself from falling. Alastor’s breath leave him in an unexpected whoosh

Vox dips his head towards Alastor’s chest, pressing invisible lips to the fabric reverently. V: how’s this for ‘gentle’? Al? Alastor jerks his head up at the pressure he feels beneath his ribs at the gesture. He tries to glares at Vox but the flush on his cheeks betray any real heat behind his words. A: h-how dare- did you just- you… you are… confounding Alastor shoves himself away from Vox, shielding his blushing face, trying to gain some form of control V: w-was that too much? IM SORRY A: SHUT UP GENTLE IS JUST BORING THATS ALL V: HUH??? YOU’RE THE CONFOUNDING ONE!
