I don't think I'm good at gesture drawing at all, but I find it quite fun (specially if I have less than one minute to draw a pose). XD

The special effects that can be done on book covers are also really interesting (hotfoil/stamping, bas-relief, high relief, UVI varnishes, screen printing, digital foils...) although most are difficult to do unless you have machines/equipment! :)
papers, according to what I know, offset paper's the most common one used in novels. :)
In terms of durability, a hardcover binding's the best type of book binding although it uses more material. 😁 If you prefer to do softcover glued binding, it's recommended to you use polyurethane adhesive as it is unbreakable.
