The one SOPPA agreement (Ilinois NDPA) they signed says No students under 13 in the Ex A. Instead of signing a new clear doc they signed another Ex A . It is confusing. Even with an actual request they refused to sign a new SOPPA. I worked with them for 2 months and they refused. #ImDone

Question 4 from EduSkyAI Chat on Dec 5 - Looking to the future, how do you think students will (or won't) be using AI 3 to 5 years from now?

A4: We have to remember that Gen AI is in its infancy stage and will just keep innovating and changing. AI itself is already deeply ingrained into everything we do, we just don't always notice it. I think it will be common place just like google search is now. Think about that. #EduSkyAI

Question 3 of EduSkyAI chat from 12-5: Have you used any AI tools directly with students? How did it go?

A3: We have a partnership with @magicschoolai.bsky.social and our dipping out toes into student use with this tool. I have also used @schoolai.com to create spaces to share with students. One of our therapists created a "safe" space for a student to talk about hygiene.

A2: They are not easily impressed and they are certainly not scared of trying it! They also pay no attention to data privacy concerns...sigh. #EduSkyAI

Missed the #EduSkyAI Chat last night so my next few posts will be answering those questions.

A1: Our students may be using it outside of school, but currently our staff are the ones using the gen AI tools. We are a sped district so this may account for some of the situation.
