It's wild. I haven't seen him in years because the family lives 10 hours away. But we were always really close to these cousins growing up. My heart hurts for them so much.

But I'm working from home and listening to music from Studio Ghibli films, so that has to count for something!
Did that on Friday night. π©
A meme that says βWhen they finally get to know the real youβ and then a picture of of Merlin from the Sword and the Stone saying βThere. You see? Iβm an ugly, horrible, grouchy old man.β
Sounds like a good plan to me!
me tooooo π
I think a lot of people were convinced that Grogu's first word would be a big moment in the new film.
I have no idea why people were SO sure this would happen, though.
The characters do grow on you over time, even if Don Draper is--at the end of the day--kind of a jerk.
But the show is SO well-made.
I love the film, but I've always struggled with its treatment of Ellie. She's really more of a plot device than a character.
thank you π
aww you're so sweet--and the feeling is mutual!
thanks π
a medium haired gray tabby cat flopped on the sidewalk.
I took a walk this evening and this little grey cat was sitting on the sidewalk. He flopped over and let me rub his belly when I leaned down to pet him.
I know it sounds silly, but it's been a tough weekend and that interaction really helped.
I found out today that my cousin's 15 year-old son died of pneumonia early this morning. I'm still processing the horrible loss of someone so young. It makes no sense.
Yeah, it's very handsomely produced and well-acted. But @keithgdesigns.bsky.social described it as one of those films where a movie where the entire premise centers on "one Sad Thing, and then watching everyone Be Sad about it" and I think that sums it up so well.
I felt similarly.
I just learned that one of my roommates--also a Millennial--has never seen The Emperor's New Groove in its entirety? How???
But it *definitely* felt strangely safe--I was not at all shocked when it came out a few months later that it had originally been a personal story inspired by the queer director's childhood and that Pixar had brought a new director on to "sanitize" it for broader audiences.
And I don't hate the film, either. I took my kids to see it in theaters and thought it was cute.
The funny thing about this is that the film flopped--DESPITE their retooling it to remove "controversial" elements.

I LOVE Cate Blanchett in that one!

you, in another decade
2006, baby!
lol damn autocorrect
there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for
I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.
