I apologize. I was looking at this from a viewpoint of President Musk and his cronies creating a list of enemies then Meta getting in good graces by "donating" their facial recognition software to help expedite the finding and detaining of people on the enemies list.
Wasn't Meta working on facial recognition + age progression stuff 10-15 years ago? I recall an in-Facebook app where people uploaded a photo and the app would show you what you would look like in twenty years or something like. People started uploading 20-year-old pics to see how accurate it was.
