The list seems like a weird mash-up of interesting spaces and places with good programming. The first time I visited Film Forum on a trip to NYC, I was kind of shocked that it was so tiny, reminded me of the Carlton arthouse multiplex in Toronto.

Six for me (Egyptian, TCL Chinese, New Beverly, BFI, Prince Charles, Film Forum) plus I stumbled into the lobby of the Little Prince last summer but have never seen a film there. Lots of possiblities in that article for future trips, though!
Someday, I will have to go back to Michigan and finally experience the Mystery for myself!
I passed this Mystery Spot many times as a child, but I donβt think I ever stopped. Mightβve been wary of the mystery aspect. Castle Rock, on the other hand, was a regular stop, much clearer what you were signing up for.
A lot of the tracks on that comp are (then-)modern remixes, arenβt they? Thereβs a Steinski track on it that I really like.
A guy I know did this with TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES and CRITTERS recently in Toronto. Curious where this idea originated.
Or when Iβm in a more whimsical mood:
Hairstyles and attitudes
are they connected?
Are the styles we embrace
a matter of taste
or of values rejected?
Hairstyles and attitudes
how do they relate?
How well do we use
our freedom to choose
the illusions we create?
A ridiculous prompt, but this lyric rattles around my head a lot these days:
This recurring nightmare madness
as merely manβs attempt
to prove that nothingβs sacred
and no one is exempt
Same. I'm just recording the full movie before the cartoon. I better watch them quickly, though, or the DVR is going to get full fast.
Yeah, was just caught by surprise. Was hoping for a regular Looney Tunes block, which could still happen, but this means I have to pay closer attention to the schedule going forward. C'est la vie!
RHAPSODY IN RIVETS plays today just after Noon.
For fans of TCM and Looney Tunes who don't know (@tjamesdobbin.bsky.social ?), the channel appears to be just tossing Looney Tunes cartoons into the day-to-day 31 Days of Oscar programming mix this month. Go to www.tcm.com/schedule?ici... and search on Looney Tunes to get a more complete list.
Nice to see CIPβs work spreading across the Globe.
Correction: King East
Pour one out for the Patrician, an old favourite for lunch when I worked on King West. Not many diners left in the city!
Yeah, thatβs my feeling exactly. Looking forward to whittling down my huge backlog of TCM recordings to make space for the stuff Iβll end up recording when 31 Days is done.
Yes!!!! Now please check the Constantines.
Black Cat Friday! Look at this lovely little girl, the most enthusiastic receiver of pets you will ever meet.
Thanks for the kind words! Always good to hear that people find the work useful.
Thanks for the shout-out yesterday Corey. It is time-consuming, but strangely it's something I enjoy doing.
I originaly wasn't going to watch because I've seen most of them before, some of them the last time TCM showed a bunch of Looney Tunes cartoons, and yet I was instantly drawn in. So, so good.
Thanks Jesse! I love to stay on top of this stuff myself, so might as well share it.
In the spirit of self-promotion, I suggest visiting Torontoplex on Letterboxd letterboxd.com/torontoplex/... or on its own site www.torontoplex.com/listings/scr... (or follow @torontoplex.bsky.social on BlueSky).
Oh yeah, good idea, though they're often not updated until Wednesday. More Cineplex showtimes could be added overnight as well.
Also playing a little closer to home at the Landmark in Whitby. www.landmarkcinemas.com/showtimes/wh...
Had a look at the Toronto page and was surprised to see Three Men and a Baby, of all things!
There's a chronology of 70mm presentations broken down by city on in70mm.com that might give you some idea. Los Angeles' page is here: www.in70mm.com/country/usa/... but you can pick other cities from this page: www.in70mm.com/country/usa/...
Well cast as an asshole, but poorly cast as an American. Think they could have done better.
Okay one more: cool to finally see casting noms and one for the secret agent, which has the greatest collection of faces of any movie Iβve recently seen
