Spending 24 hours in SF Kaiser for a monitored EEG for my 10 year old. Reminder of how precious health is and how great the medical professionals are. Apparently the food is not so great, but you can't have everything.

I wonder when that shift occurred. On the east coast my mom lives in an established subdivision where she can easily walk through to another estate, or down to the seaside and train station, or out to the main road, and their building a brand new estate behind her (will it be connected, let's see?)

where are these? I think of Irish suburbs as really good on pedestrian cut-throughs compared to at least California suburbs, where people love to live on culs-de-sac but never occurs to anybody what pedestrians would prefer.

Mark Siegler (Sac State) has a good & up to date textbook-- not sure about the slides part though. It doesn't end with the Great Depression like many other books.
