PhD student speaking with a microphone, presenting her work regarding the immune response to Epstein-Barr virus in multiple sclerosis and cancer.
Glad to have presented my work at @cnb-csic.bsky.social, discussing the #EBV-specific immune response in the context of #multiplesclerosis.
Thank you to everyone who joined!
We will continue exploring EBV biology in my next stage in Boston, focusing on #PTLD
La iniciativa «Comparte tu perspectiva y amplía los horizontes del CNB», del Programa Sinergias #SeveroOchoa apoyará las propuestas de 3 grupos de 25 jóvenes del #CNB

All MS patients share increased inflammatory B and T cells, but differ in regulatory or NK subsets, which identify highly inflammatory or benign disease courses

The course ends with the feeling of having learned, shared, and connected with patients, clinicians, physiotherapists, and researchers. Thanks to #UIMP and especially to Dr. Diego Clemente for the tremendous effort in making it possible!
Slide projected in a conference room showing two possible functional states of microglia: "Inflammatory" and "Resolving." Their effects are in a list, such as immune cell activation and demyelination in the inflammatory state, and debris clearance and myelin repair in the resolving state.
Today was the last day of the course, focused on the dual role of microglia. Its “foamy” phenotype, after phagocytosing damaged myelin, becomes proinflammatory. The purinergic receptor P2X4 was highlighted, as well as the potential of drugs like ivermectin to modulate its response #MS_UIMP25
Dr. María Villar pointing at a presentation slide during her talk on immunosenescence. The slide shows diagrams of the brain and thymus across different life stages. The room features blue curtains and a decorative ceiling.

Second day at #UIMP, discussing aging in #MS: biomarkers of axonal damage #NfL and inflammation #GFAP, and the impact of immunosenescence with experts like María Villar. We also had a moment to enjoy a bit of sunshine around the Palacio de la Magdalena, Santander #MS_UIMP25

Seminar in progress at the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP), with participants seated around a large wooden conference table and others joining remotely via video call, displayed on a large screen at the front of the room.
Third time attending this multiple sclerosis #MS meeting at #UIMP, this year focusing on the new diagnostic criteria, aging, and the role of microglia. #MS_UIMP25
