First draft chapter sent to my supervisors this evening, and with the word count, I’m about 1/8 through the first draft of my full thesis. Also ticked some other items off the to-do list! ☺️ #PhDLife

This morning I set a writing goal of minimum 250 words, and less than an hour into the day I’ve hit that goal. Maybe I should increase it to 500? 🤔 #PhDLife

#PhD day 442: I’m less than 3,000 words from a first draft of a literature review, which also means I’ve nearly completed a first draft of the theoretical framework which will inform my entire thesis. 🙂 #PhDLife

When I was a taught student, I benefited from in-person learning (especially when putting my laptop away and taking handwritten notes). And I had ideas for my PhD inspired by in-class discussions. We’re a social species, and in-person interaction is important.

Update: I remember what I said!! Not word for word, but the gist of it came back to me. I am very relieved.

Friendly reminder to my #PhD friends to always save your work. I lost part of my literature review today because my laptop died before I had saved anything. 😭 Not very much, but it was the best of what I’ve written so far…

I just came out of a meeting with my PhD supervisors and one of them said something incredibly valuable to me. On the originality of my research, she said “Just because someone else has provided an answer you find satisfactory doesn’t mean you don’t have anything else to say” #PhDLife

The downside is that some of the things I deleted appeared to have been settings. 🙃

Took some annual leave from my #PhD for some rest after submitting my upgrade, but decided to use a day to clear space on my laptop. I’ve just created over 140GB of storage space by deleting over half a million files I didn’t know existed. 🤯
