Clear out into a modern, fit for purpose parliament building somewhere else.
Refurb Westminster and reopen it as a museum.

That's not fair, I have to do a lot of teams meetings and presentations too.
(Seriously, I really want one of those nonsense jobs that rich people get for their untalented kids. A seat on a museum's board, three meetings a year and a handsome salary? Excellent. Can I supplement that with a "Head of Nonsense" title at a Think Tank that gets me on every BBC show? Marvellous!)
It's what happens when it's almost exclusively made up of unresearched commentary pieces written by rich people who have no talents, skills or knowledge but society refuses to allow them to fall down a social rung.
Six figures for churning out 200 words of nonsense a week? Lovely.
Oh christ, I am in the pub and a group of students next to me are talking about Doctor Who.
One of them just said "obviously the Sarah Jane Adventures was the way into it for the older generation".
Excuse me while I crumble into dust.
Commonhold generally means you and the other owners get to collectively figure that stuff out though.
Rather than a management company charging you a grand a month to live in the flat you own, you and the other owners get together a few times a year and vote on what needs doing and paying for.
You still get to benefit from the Landlord Special lick of magnolia in the public stairwell every other year, at an annual cost of ten grand.
Yes. No more buying London pads for MPs on the public purse.
They should be given access to a state-owned flat near Westminster for the duration of their tenure, and that is all.
No buying them a house in their constituency either, as they should already live there.
In years to come the UK will famous for its precisely arranged deckchairs.
Cancel every US tech contract immediately on national security grounds. No compensation.
Voting intention stacked bar graphs from Statista showing results of a survey taken in Jan 2026. While most demographics are broadly centre-left to left-leaning, the 50-64 age bracket shows 34% in favour of Reform and 16% in favour of the Conservatives, the 65+ demographic shows 33% in favour of Reform and another 30% in favour of the Conservatives.
True, but the 65+ is the biggest offender here by far.
The 50-64 demographic looks like it's largely just the ex-Tory vote that's transferred over to Reform.
The 65+ appear to be massively in favour of both, and go nowhere near any party that isn't batshit fucking insane.
Once again I find myself asking "What the fuck is wrong with Boomers?"
Was there a class at some point in their half a dozen years of education where they were taught to chuck grenades over their shoulders on the way out?
Hope they're seeking refuge in the next country along, not trying to get to the UK.
Yes, I've seen several people point out that this is a tactic the Labour right have used for years in local parties; sideline and ignore the left for long enough and they eventually stop showing up for meetings and getting in the way.
Trying that with the electorate takes a special kind of stupid.
"Democracy volunteers" was founded in 2016, clearly to cry foul and muddy the waters if the referendum went the other way.
Who are they? Where's their money coming from? Needs a full look into.
Not even assumption - most places have deliberately designed their refuse collection so it's difficult *not* to recycle.
If you don't seperate out your paper, cans, bottles, etc. into a seperate bin, it will fill up and then not get collected for two weeks. Councils refuse to supply a larger one.
Like, Starmer threw out every socialist in the party and strapped May's red lines to himself like a political suicide vest - and the insane newspapers and commentators in this country still portray him as a Leninist who is hell bent on rejoining the EU by the end of the week.
If you have learned nothing in the last decade it should be that *literally everything*, including restoration of the opt out on the Euro would be claimed by Eurosceptics and the British media as committing to take the Euro.
I doubt there'd be an opt out.
What I would expect is a clarification that any move to adopt the Euro require a referendum.
That would do the job. Because that's how it would have to work in practice anyway.
In FPTP, that last bit should be.
But in countries with PR negotiating has to happen in public between parties, rather than between branches of the same party.
And we can assume the parties elected represent the will of the electorate.
In PR we don't even know Labour's voters voted *for* Labour rather than *against* the Tories.
Why would young brits stick around to pay for boomers' state pensions as well as paying ever rising rent money to them?
Most likely the other way around.
Unless the UK dramatically improves living conditions on this island any return to Freedom of Movement would see a mass exodus of the young.
They've even started leaning into the jesus shit, which absolutely does not play in the UK and never has.
We're not the Americans, we don't want our politicians to bang on about God, and we don't trust them when they do.
This is them begging for big cash injections from the US religious right.
They managed to edit out one of the recipients making a statement in support of Gaza. So. Yeah, they could have.
Instead they've responded by chasing after the nutters with underpants on their heads.
This is the dumbest thing too.
In the current climate the Tories could have just gone "Well thank fuck the loonies aren't in charge of our party any more and they've all fucked off to Reform. Let's start fixing the mess they made and rejoin the Single Market", and would win the next GE by a mile.
Absolutely. Day one should have been ramming new media laws through and ripping the media barons' nuts off in public.
Mandate that media ownership must be 100% UK-based and as dispersed as possible. No more billionaires buying up every newspaper and dodgy propaganda tv channels.
And they *still* find themselves constantly desctribed as "extreme far left" and "plotting to reverse Brexit" by every insane newspaper on this island, begging the question of what the fuck all this was for.
