Price shocks in essentials must be buffered before they ripple through the economy and rip apart our societies. Have governments learned their lesson or will they let the fossil fuel price shock unleash another round of windfall profits and inflation?

Freedom of the press is in the US Constitution.
These guys claim to be defending the US as they destroy everything that makes it great.

I didn't know that's what you meant by media thirst. I thought you just meant the press granting attention to people far out of proportion to their constituency

I'm not sure it's totally one-sided. There is massive media appetite for never Trumpers, who are sort of the equivalent of Third Way Democrats?

Can they it fast enough? If they gave a damn they'd require carpooling and buy a bunch of buses and bikes. Instead they are pushing work from home...

Links are allowed here! I met a Canada jay in BC, as it followed me biking up a hill for 10 or 20 minutes. It was very cute.

No Help and Few Options for Travelers Stranded by Mideast Conflict
One woman who called the State Department helpline looking for help said they told her to "stop ranting and raving" and hung up on her.
Another woman said they asked her how to spell Oman.

The most important elements of writing are not grammar or vocabulary, but clear thinking and a moral sensibility. Machines cannot think and do not have morality.

I have to do Career Day at my kids' school, what's a good way to teach them about science? I was thinking of giving them a fun activity and then making them fill out a lot of paperwork before abruptly canceling it

Is AIPAC money in politics bad? Yes. But the Christian Right's money, power, and influence is far bigger, and they just can't wait to get Armageddon going

In white collar crime investigations I've found that there really are good guys and bad guys. 90% of investigations quickly fall into overwhelmingly positive recommendations or a litany of horrors.
This criminological insight gives me an idea. Don't give bad guys nuclear weapons.

Lots of Americans think they can just "exit" if things get bad, not realizing that their home grown xenophobiab has metastasized around the world. There is a fast decreasing number of places to go.

Three teenagers on a moped. Their faces are covered in colored powders, mostly in pink. They look happy and loving. The boy in the front has a mustache. The girls sitting further back are sitting close together, showing that they are close. One is wearing a t-shirt that says " I like duck". A tiny pink car is going past in the background. The street is dusty and hazy and the sun is beaming straight down overhead
Happy Holi. And a reminder that the 4 billion people of Asia are each living full and interesting lives, without becoming NPCs in someone else's end times fantasy

I had an aunt & uncle who lived in Shangai in the 30s. He worked for BT. They lived in an apt in the International Settlement. They lived a posh life until the Japanese invaded & they spent 3 years in an internment camp.
