Thomas is one of the most racist and fascist people to sit on the court.
The rock in the middle looks like a Wringwraith from LOTR in this picture. I have been taking pictures of this beach since 1975 and this evening was one of two sessions that really stand out.
In 2012 I got my Canon 20D converted to 720nm IR. I have sinced moved on to Sony and now have an A7rIII. B&W IR shot at Ruby Beach WA.

Best part was that it was all gluten free.
I love that shot. I think the gimmick comment comes from something I have seen where photos that would be weak or of little interest get posted simply because the photographer mistakenly thinks that IR makes it good - poor subject selection and composition are still weak in color or IR.
