Wow!!!! This is HUGE!!!
π¨π¨π¨Happy to share that our Tutorial proposals got accepted for #ISMB2026 and #ECCB2026!!! Flagship events of @iscb.bsky.social πππ Looking forward working with Farzana, Shashank, Meg, and JC.

Today, I am excited to listen to Best of Biophysical Journal symposium!
Met Prof. Bob Jernigan, after 15 years! Also met our bioinformatics alumni Jaya Vasavi. Yesterday's posters were super good! Had a good time. Also, it was nice reconnecting with Harpreet Singh from THE Ohio State Univ. We met first in 2012.
The day ended with conference swag collection and topped with collecting the certificate for curating the special issue of
@biophysj.bsky.social @biophysicalsoc.bsky.social
from EiC @frettinglab.bsky.social and John Long! This was a surprise...ππ Super proud of how the issue turned out!
Today was a great day with a dedicated session on science communication with Jeremy Berg, Holden Thorpe, and Daniel Cohen talking about why scicomm is a must in today's time. Also, my favorite Darwin quote. Met a few friends and other ambassadors as well!!!
An amazing set of talks in the theory and computation subgroup. Met a couple of friends. And ended with dinner with my postdoc supervisor with lots of things catching up over delicious turkish food!!!
Today we start the Biophysical society meeting!!! And I met my PhD co-supervisor Bostjan Kobe from The University of Queensland, Australia after 20 years!!!! Exciting day ahead...

At the fringes of the BlueSky user galaxy, but in good company!
I am SO incredibly excited to announce the launch of a global list of Inspiring Black Scientists. You can use this list to nominate and connect with researchers. Please share and join us in highlighting these outstanding scientists for #BlackHistoryMonth and beyond!

Wishing you the best in the next endeavors!!!
For many years, we never had institutional email ids. As a postdoc I had an .edu address, until then I had used my .com address. There are so many institutions on this side of the world where .com addresses are still used for official academic communications by students.
Also, the variant data is available in European Variant Archive. ebi.ac.uk/eva/?eva-stu...

π± Why this matters
These results provide a curated set of innate immune gene candidates for:
β’ Disease-resilient breeding
β’ Climate-adapted livestock
β’ Future functional validation
7/8
π Genotype meets function
By integrating PBMC gene-expression data, we show that several immune genes with genomic variants also show distinct basal expression in healthy indicine cattle.
Genomic variation means functional immune readiness.
6/8
𧬠Population genomics tells the story
PCA, FST, dXY, and selective sweep analyses reveal:
β’ Clear indicineβtaurine separation
β’ Strong immune-gene divergence
β’ Breed-specific selection signals
Pathogen pressure leaves a genomic signature.
5/8
π§ Key finding #2
Two innate immune genes stand out:
π CARD9
π NLRP8
High-impact, indicine-specific variants were found in all four indicine breeds, but were absent in taurine and crossbred cattle.
4/8
This is a genome-wide view of innate immunity. Key Finding #1:
Indicine breeds carry more immune-related variants than taurine and crossbred cattleβ
across structural variants, copy-number changes, and high-impact SNVs.
This isnβt just diversityβitβs adaptation.
3/8
We tackle this using integrative whole-genome analysis across indicine, taurine, and crossbred cattle.
π Study design at a glance
β’ >100 animal samples
β’ 6 breeds (4 indicine, 1 taurine, 1 crossbreed)
β’ Whole-genome seq
β’ SNVs, InDels, CNVs, SVs + population genomics
2/8
Fantastic way to start the year π with a preprint from Yennamalli Lab! This is a ICAR-NASF funded project in collaboration with NDRI, Karnal!
What makes indicine cattle naturally resilient to infections and harsh environments? A π§΅π𧬠1/8

I would love to be a student in this course!
They smell like heaven!!!
Also @vikasnavaratna.bsky.social there is this: cvit.iiit.ac.in/research/pro...
LOL!!! I will read the paper now more throughly.
@vikasnavaratna.bsky.social This is right up your alley! farzanashaju.github.io/how-does-ind...
Haven't read it fully, yet! Sounds interesting...
Thanks and congratulations to you as well for selected as an BPS Ambassdor, Canada! And being in the same cohort!!! π₯³π
It is perhaps not hungry enough!π
I don't see your posts these days. Some algorithm. Missed seeing all these food pics for a long time.
