A Nature journal cover design that shows a plate with cutlery, but the plate is a cancer cell.
Process work for the cover design
My second cover illustration published this week, and it's in THE Nature! π€― It features brilliant research from Dr. Raphael Morscher and Sarah Cherkaoui at U Zurich that shows how a depleted diet can halt protein translation in a pediatric neuroblastoma.

An illustration for the journal, Immunity, that represents immune and cancer cells as fish in a cellular ocean.
Process work for the cover design
New illustration published in Immunity this week! π«§π This visual metaphor highlights research from the Pereira Lab at Lund University. They found transcription factor combinations that reprogram cancer cells to become immune cells, which then have an anti-cancer effect.
#sciart #scicomm #immunity
π’ New in @ImmunityCP: We have mapped the transcription factor βroutesβ that program two dendritic cell subsets opening paths for personalized #cancer #immunotherapy. Read it here: doi.org/10.1016/j.im...
Here is a summary of what we discovered π§΅:
A crow perched on a stump in a pine forest covered in dense foliage
A Forest raven perched on a broken branch
A dense forest environment with a river running through the middle
A fox crawling between some dense forest floor foliage.

An infographic about how to make a native garden, including an example based in Toronto, Canada
Our latest infographic illustrates how to make a native garden pit stop for pollinators! This was a collaboration between myself and Brittany Cheung (www.bcheungbiomedicalillustration.com)
Full infographic here: www.biophile.media/post/native-...

Over the past several months I've been working on bringing this idea to life, and I'm excited to finally share Biophile Media β an online platform that transforms #science, #health, and #climate research into understandable and inspiring visual stories!

Career goal complete! Excited to say my illustration was selected for the Feb issue of Nature Neuroscience! It was an absolute pleasure working with cutting edge researchers to visualize their study on neural activity in a playful, metaphorical way.
#sciart #medcomms #neuroscience
Thank you for the kind words! I totally lucked out in stumbling upon this career (I would have gone into neuroscience research otherwise). Getting to work with scientists to visualize their work is pretty awesome :)
Here's a zoomed in view looking at the fluid flow to and from a single nephron β the functional unit of the kidney!
This was a freelance project done for a medical device company that targets lymphatics to treat ADHF π«
#scicomm #sciart #nephron #anatomy
Here's an animation I made that shows fluid flow in/out of the kidneys, with emphasis on the lymphatics since they are often left out of anatomical illustrations:
β‘οΈ Fluid enters via the renal artery
β¬
οΈ Fluid exits via the renal vein, lymphatics, and as urine

Thank you, I appreciate it!
Thanks Emily! π
A 2-part infographic series about the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). The first part defines the SDOH and the second part provides a guideline for addressing them in healthcare practices.
Excited to say this infographic I helped create for Real Chemistry has been translated into Spanish!
This 2-part #infographic breaks down what the Social Determinants of Health are and how healthcare providers can address them. PDFs available here: azuravesta.com/the-sdoh

Ou that's a great example! Totally true. It's only when these new practices become the norm that we can actually shift to a future with less plastic. People will usually pick convenience over what's actually better for the environment, so we have to make the better options more convenient
