Yeah, this is my personality but Windows got so bad I jumped ship to Linux finally. My new computer had Windows pre installed but I should install Linux again.

Also, you don't give up on the possible nihilists because you'll sometimes be wrong. You also need to stand up to the bullies to bolster everyone else listening. That's part of how Mamdani gained momentum: standing up loudly to Tom Homan.

That said, we shouldn't let them keep power if we've seen their harm in the past. That goes for both the deeply bigoted (ex: Steven Miller, Donald Trump) and the power hungry (ex: Gavin Newsom, Donald Trump).

Stand on moral principles, loudly denounce the bad, make it hard to quietly wield that power. Those willing to put in effort will get there eventually. If we make it unsafe to be racist/fascist again, those just looking for power will play the new game. That's a net good if they do.

After this and the other thread I understand better what you're saying. My summary: some are those that need to confront their 'goodness' like I mentioned, and some are forever stuck in deep bias or power.

My thoughts again: They're different, but maybe we approach them similarly?

I think you're missing who this is about. I work with mostly cis, white, liberal people who are trying to do good in the world. Their own sense of goodness makes it hard to change sometimes. If learning about bias makes them feel like a bad person, the training must be wrong because ~they are good~.

The straights can keep Jaimie, but Eowyn being that kind of bi* where she dates exactly one man ever and then Aragorn transitions would track for me.

*Maybe bi isn't the right label looking back at her relationships

Ms Rachel the person is great. I'm sick of her YouTube channel, but that's just me being tired of programming aimed at 6 month olds.

Wait, what are the opinions on Blippi? I only know them from a Ms Rachel crossover episode. We have like 3 approved YouTube channels for our toddler because I know there's a lot of crap stuff out there. (And of course feel free to ignore, but if you feel like going on a rant, etc...)

I'm just generally anxious about fascism descending. My fears are basically the ham fisted kind of plans just... not being countered. Their plan in 2021 was to declare themselves the winners regardless. With how our Congress and sup court act, my fear is no one would make them leave in future.

Very similar for me. Shoe size down maybe a half size? Definitely a noticeable but not huge amount. Haven't measured height in a bit. Eyes changed for the first time in almost two decades mostly for the better, but I also have mild astigmatism now. Transitioning in my 30s, ~1.5 years on E now.

He also gave me one of my favorite quotes. He joked about liking to hire lazy people because they knew how to get things done as fast as possible so they could be done with it. I've described myself as that kind of lazy for a long time.

Even better, he occasionally did a black and blue prime rib special with blackened seasonings and blue cheese that was soooo good (the prime rib was still tender). I miss that. I've never found anywhere else that makes anything close (admittedly I have not been searching hard, but you get the idea).

This part isn't particularly special, but I fell in love with Buffalo wings and blue cheese there.

The chef/owner was really good, like better than a small town usually gets. He served up some reaaally good prime rib there that I think wasn't that expensive (I was a kid, my parents were paying).

For me it was this local diner/steakhouse/restaurant named after the owner's grandma in our small town. I think the business still exists, but I haven't been back to that town in two decades and the owner that made it good left at about the same time.

Agree. I also transitioned later (at ~30). I feel for me that a big part of similar feelings is that I had developed some really thick armor that was fueled by my dissociation, and as I got healthier and more connected to myself the armor didn't work as well. That's good! But also hard.

I think movie runtime is an underexamined form of directorial privilege. That's why I set the playback speed of every movie so that it lasts exactly one hour.

Making some very spicy ramen has helped our family weather the everything this weekend.
