At my happiest with my camera photographing birds. Love to travel with a passion to see as many species of Terns as I can. Living in Dorset

I had a Hummingbird Hawk moth in my garden this morning, Poole, Dorset.
That is the earliest Iโ€™ve seen one and it was cold and breezy.
I guess it overwintered here. lyndalambert.bsky.social @dorsetwildlife.bsky.social

We have a lot of Nuthatches in my Dads garden this year, enjoying a bath in this hot weather. I missed out on a garden visit from the Cuckoo yesterday morning. #birdphotography @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social @dorsetwildlife.bsky.social

We ringed the Poole peregrines brood this morning. 4 healthy chicks (3 females and 1 male). Ringed, colour ringed, biometrics and DNA sampling. White on blue colour rings (DZ, HD, HF, HG). Thanks to Stonewater for access and my experienced ringing assistant Terry Elborn.

White tailed Tropicbirds nest in trees, even at ground level on predator free islands like this one taken on Aride Island in the Seychelles.
When the chick is fat enough the mother will abandon it until it is so hungry it will make its way to the sea.
