Every few years I redraw my Star Trek OCs, a Klingon Starfleet Medical Officer and his Vulcan Starfleet Engineer boyfriend, a couple I made in 2015 when hoping we’d some day get a new Star Trek show.
On a completely unrelated note, I finally caught up on Starfleet Academy and Jay-Den is my favorite

I cleaned one (1) section of my house, did one load of laundry, and started a tiny bit of my book edits, then I rewarded myself by finally watching Starfleet Academy and Pillion.
The thing about having a week off recovering from being sick is that you feel like you should have more to show for it but also you were busy…being sick.

Liam was taken from Columbia Heights, the town just south of my high school in Fridley and just north of the Arts district in NE Minneapolis. I spent a lot of time with friends there after extracurriculars. News of his abduction completely broke my heart. I’m glad he’s home. #Comics4Liam

At my first convention of the year at VerseCon in Sacramento! Here’s also a look at my conventions coming up:
One of our shared writing exercises in class is to create a group poem with students using “We are…” “We love…” “We hate…” statements and ask the kids to offer suggestions.
These 5th graders freely offered up “We hate ICE” (and “We hate bullies”). Kids are observant.
LAST YEAR, I STARTED A JOB TO HELP KIDS WITH CREATIVE WRITING. EACH WEEK, I GO INTO DIFFERENT CLASSROOMS, AND WITH AN ASSORTMENT OF FUN PROMPTS, GUIDE YOUNG WRITERS TO CRAFT THEIR STORIES, POEMS, AND COMICS. IT CAN BE CHALLENGING SOMETIMES, BUT IT'S IMMENSELY REWARDING SEEING THEIR IDEAS COME TO LIFE..
AND SINCE I'M WORKING WITH KIDS, THERE'S THE "ADULT IN THE ROOM" TRAINING: CPR, MANDATED REPORTING... ... AND ACTIVE SHOOTER DRILLS. I HAVEN'T BEEN IN SCHOOL SINCE I WAS A KID. EXPERIENCING AN ACTIVE SHOOTER DRILL FOR THE FIRST TIME FEELS...BLEAK. BANDAGES ON SYMPTOMS INSTEAD OF TREATING THE ROOT CAUSE.
DURING OUR SUMMER TRAINING BEFORE WE STARTED CLASSES, WE HAD WORD OF ICE ACTIVITY IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, AND DECIDED TO CLOSE AND EVACUATE THE CAMPUS. I RAN ACROSS THE STREET TO TELL OUR NEIGHBORS, A SMALL CAR DEALERSHIP. WE EVENTUALLY FOUND OUT IT WAS A FALSE ALARM.

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.
