I realized what bugs me about Trump's appointees this term (beyond their outright naziism obviously).
It's their small-time venality and vanity. They're like the 26 year-old tech sales guy who made $400k last year and got promoted to "Regional VP" and started wearing bespoke suits to meetings.

I think any kind of permanent occupation of any area of Iran is very unlikely, but a status quo of de facto ceasefires punctuated by the occasional explosion of violence seems very likely, and you know that if anyone tries to re-engage Tehran diplomatically all of DC will shit itself sideways.
