Yes, please. This is why the internet was invented.
So good in so many incredible films. From ANNIE HALL to REDS to LOOKING FOR MR GOODBAR to MANHATTAN MURDER MYSTERY to THE GODFATHER but if u want my fav Diane Keaton perf it's her astonishing work in Alan Parker's heartbreaker SHOOT THE MOON. Seek it out. RIP DK
I've thought a lot about the scene in A Clockwork Orange where Alex finds out that the droogs he used to rampage with are now policemen
My friend Jane Levy is so great in A LITTLE PRAYER opening today in NY/LA. Check it out if you can, it's regional filmmaking at its best, made with love with an exceptional cast
!!
5 year journey to tell this story. Finally made it to HBOMAX Check it out if you can.
Was, am, and always will be a film geek.
Thanks Elisa!
Thank you NYTIMES and @jasondashbailey.com -- proud to be a streaming gem! "FILM GEEK is a joyful, nostalgic love letter to not only the movies, but also the obsessions they empower" Streaming Gems ON HBOMAX now ! www.nytimes.com/2025/07/23/m...
2nd part of my super fun/deep/obsessive talk with Bret Easton Ellis about the incredible film year of 1982, as well as my personal doc FILM GEEK now streaming on HBOMAX.
This was an EXTREMELY fun podcast to do. Bret & I go deep on films of 1982, & talk about my doc FILM GEEK (finally streaming on HBOMAX). Though raised in different parts of the country, we share a near identical cinematic obsessiveness & it was a blast to connect on that deep level
Brian De Palma's DRESSED TO KILL-- one of my favorite movies I saw as teenager (& saw being filmed!) is one of 200 movies featured in my personal doc FILM GEEK -which after runs at American Cinematheque in LA & Film Forum in NY is now streaming on HBOMAX. Perfect July 4th long weekend viewing!
A page from the book JAWS, with most of the text crossed out in blue pen by an overzealous mother
In the late '70s I bought a copy of JAWS for 25 cents at a yard sale. I couldn't have been older than 8 (and may have been younger) so my mother insisted that she read the book first. When I got it back, this is what it looked like.
This July 4th, remember to FIGHT CENSORSHIP!
This is a lovely essay film, valentine to cinema, NYC document, all the good things that I love and you probably do too.
Give it a watch over the holiday - and while you're at it, check out Richard talking to us about it on his excellent episode of A VERY GOOD YEAR. pod.link/1651111139/e...
This is good, you should watch this.
Terrific film, especially for New Yorkers and film fans of a certain age. Don't miss out.
Finally-- FINALLY!!!-- my personal doc FILM GEEK is streaming on HBO MAX (or whatever it's called these days) It's about movies, NYC, dads, obsession and split diopters, and the film uses & repurposes clips from over 200 movies to tell my story-- Please watch & share.
Since I'm always late and nobody asked:
Amazing to have our Emmy Nominated 2009 HBO doc I KNEW IT WAS YOU: REDISCOVERING JOHN CAZALE play at Film Forum in NYC as part of their Cazale Fest. And always great to be celebrating with my amazing friend and producer Stacey Reiss-- FYI it's screening again Sat/Sun afternoons and I'll be there!!
