Radical right parties in Europe have not moderated. Their positions and rhetoric have entered the mainstream. They have become normalized and legitimized. Unless we understand this, we have little chance of countering their success.

Populist hype and horseshoe theory are always used by anti-populists to create an illusion that the far right they enabled to justify the status quo as the lesser of two evils and any real alternative to it (and the status quo) are the same threat
