20 nurses and midwives have died by suicide prior to conclusion of their case. Currently there is no ongoing robust risk assessment for registrant welfare. Investigations can run alongside mental health welfare - if it is important to the organisation...

We suggest the NMC prioritize gathering and analyzing data on the impact of their cases, rather than solely focusing on resolving cases quickly. This will enhance public protection and resource efficiency.

Why is the NMC quick to assume dishonesty over genuine mistakes? A lack of skill or lack of compassion? Clogging up the system with the wrong cases risks public safety and registrant's careers and lives. Time to change the narrative to innocent til proven guilty...

Newly qualified midwives/nurses should enter a 12month program to help them transition into practice. Resources, funding and work pressures mean this is lacking. NMC employer link service needs to demand better from employers and unions must gather data on workforce impact.

Alrighty, folks at NMC, it's crucial for our own staff to speak up about poor practice and the need for regulatory intervention. But hey, make sure you bring the receipts and handle the referral like any other, no funny business!

capacity pressures, defensiveness, blame culture, racism, poor investigations, and run down departments. All stakeholders must collaborate to address these issues. Senior leaders must be held accountable for ignoring warning signs, including the NMC.

Employers and regulators should dig deeper into referral rates to truly understand the dynamics at play. It's not just about the numbers, but the context behind them. Let's peel back the layers and get to the root of the issue!

NMC have handled this junior midwife's case swiftly and proportionately. Undertakings are a positive solution.. But what push back will the NMC give the employer who clearly failed this preceptee? NMCWatch see many newly qualified referred when they should still be learning.

Baronness Amos report is a stark reminder that these pictures are far from reality. Regulators are often given early information about triggers for risk but they fail to act on them swiftly - this must change NOW #regulatenotlitigate #workplaceculture #strongertogether

Thank you to another MP for raising concerns around proposed fee increases. Should there not be more scrutiny over how our regulator spends our fees? #NMCreformNOW #publicinquiry #handsoffourfees

These are all situations our members found themselves in prior to referral. Can the NMC really take this context into account when assessing Fitness to Practice referrals? Will the employer link service go back to these employers and suggest improvements? #regulatenotlitigate

It's great that NMC is aiming to eliminate disparities by 2030, but let's pick up the pace! Lives and careers are on the line, and we can't afford to wait. Time for some turbocharged change!

Newly qualified nurses are being referred to the NMC but is our regulator truly taking in to account the context around this? What push back to employers will the NMC make when others at fault are identified? #proportionateregulation #workplaceculture #regulatenotlitigate

Yesterday celebrated mental health nurses. 10% of our new joiners are MH nurses. Some have raised concerns in their workplace, some will need time to reflect on how to improve their practice, most can improve with help and support #learnnotblame #accountability #professionalism

Will the latest registrant survey mean NMC reframes conversations with employers when referring FtP? Will this work tie in with a review of numbers of referrals from each employer to identify areas of risk? Will whistleblowers from these centres be safeguarded better?

Nurses appealing at LIP should focus on flaws in the decision making only, evidence of good current practice evidence rarely outweighs dishonesty claims. Courts only intervene based on evidence to panels at the time - NMC lawyers resourced to prove and defend #DavidandGoliath

Who's keeping an eye on our money and the ever-growing need for interim order extensions in FtP? It's time for someone to step in and give these matters the attention they deserve.

NMC Employer Link Service should investigate frequent referrals, identify recruitment, induction, training and common themes. The NMC must remediate if weaponising FtP is to change. #proportionateregulation #regulatenotlitigate #workplaceculture

NMC tell us they are managing cases more efficiently and yet the numbers of interim order extensions in the High court increase each year. This risks safety for patients and registrants #NMCnotfit #NMCreformNOW #regulatenotlitigate

Interim orders are necessary to protect the public when risk is identified - but how well are NMC assessing the risk? Are HCIOE hearings clogging up the courts unnecessarily? Could the NMC do more to avoid further harm? #proportionateregulation #regulatenotlitigate
