I'm skeptical.
If he succeeds, it shows the rest of the country it can be done. Suddenly, other politicians will rise up and demand simple things. And then suddenly, we’ll be just like Europe, taxing Oligarchs out of endless wealth, and average Americans left with universal healthcare, child care and maybe UBI.
Universal Basic Income is sounding really great about now. The money should come from the same billionaires that stole my 20 or so scholarly publications (intellectual property) without permission or citation to train their AI and make big bucks.
The Fourth Amendment applies regardless of whether an undocumented immigrant, legal resident or citizen.
I mean.. we probably wouldn't need disability payments or food stamps if we all got universal healthcare and UBI that covered all basic living expenses every month. It would probably save the government so much money in the long run, too.
But then we couldn't be made desperate and easy to exploit.
They project this will cost $75M up front and $30M a year and I'm guessing if you just gave the majority of these folks $57,000 and then a $23,000 basic income and let them live a life, they'd do just fine. And that's assuming they stay in budget. But helping people ain't our thing, punishment is.

A hard truth is that the search for artificial general intelligence as a commercial tool is fundamentally a reproduction of slavery. Not because computers are people or anything so silly, but because of the impetus: To acquire the products of humanity without the need for a human to consent.
If you are only against sexism provided women treat you nicely, I have a spoiler for you.
