Pōneke, someone needs to have a serious talk
parking day peeps: union reception (128 vivian st) will be open today from 3pm til 5pm. new organising space! come hang out!
It’s one week to go h til the festival starts so here is our plea to you: Book something for the festival. Today. Maybe more than one thing! Be kind to all the event producers and let them start the festival a little less stressed. Maybe you’re bad at remembering to do things, so this is your reminder to DO IT NOW. Waiting for your friend group to sort themselves out? Sort yourself out and they’ll follow! Finances tight? There’s lots of free events who’d like you to register in advance. Unsure about the weather? We all are. Waiting for a better offer? You won’t get one. Waiting for a sign? THIS IS IT! So grab your tickets, register for that workshop, buy a ticket to the yourhball for the rainbow rangitahi in your life (or a supporters donation if not), enter your dog in Pooches in the Plaza, and then tell some more people to do the same. Thanks in advance!
It's ONE WEEK until the Wellington Pride Festival starts, so here is our plea to you today: www.wellingtonpridefestival.com/events
There’s always a non-zero amount of poop in the water. The best way to check whether it’s currently at safe levels is via LAWA: here’s a Wellington-specific link. www.lawa.org.nz/search?latit...
They're good dogs, Bront! And they're back as part of Out in the City at 1pm on 15 March.
MC'd by the fabulous Scotty & Mal, and with pooch prizes from Gorman, think your dog's got the best trick or looks the most like you?

Oh cool, Wellington really is more and more turning itself into a museum rather than being a living, breathing, and—crucially—evolving city
if we're gonna live forever in the 90s can we convert manners st back into a mall
Someone needs to explain to the Stuff editorial team that the word for non-productive members of society who rent out commercial buildings is “landlord”, and that “cycle lane” is what we call a lane for bicyclists and nothing to do with property speculation.
Almost every “beloved Wellington business closes” has been about landlords.
Even the ones about businesses struggling because of fewer people working in Wellington have been because the landlord does not care and will not help.
Less traffic on local roads NZTA, in its consultation document, promised the changes would mean reduced traffic on local roads. They don't show the predicted 3500 extra daily cars on Moxham Ave in Hataital, that southern Evans Bay Pde will increase by 3400 cars daily, and Elizabeth St in Mt Victoria will increase by 1600. Each goes past a school.
Cool cool cool. Actual credit to Tom Hunt for this story that’s actually not just a MOAR CARS MOAR ROADS piece that you’d expect from the Post
Economist and urbanist Roland Sapsford, who campaigned against the inner city Wellington bypass when it was being planned, said the scant and unexplained figures NTA had released were "more sales pitch than economic analysis". The time savings were based on adding all the projected time savings - seconds here and seconds there - together and this tended to inflate the overall number.
A sales pitch rather than actual data? Under this government? Surely not!
We used to be a great city (for many). We need a new Bernie, Mittens, Lola... someone to unite us
Inspiration for Wellington City Council’s already good social media team!
No one _who lives in Wellington_ benefits from a road tunnel to the airport
Does anyone know what the protest among Thorndon Quay this morning was about?
We would love to see shops everywhere doing this! How fun!
Front page headline: power shift in rental market
In today's rental market, who blinks first: Tenants or landlords? Wellington's rental market has undergone a change in the last two years. It used to be that there was a line of tenants out the door hoping to get into a home, incentives offered to landlords to get chosen and even camp beds offered in garages to live in. All that's gone. At least in Wellington. 2025 was the hardest year Comprende's Grant Foggo had seen in his 1l years in the property management industry. "The teams have to do a lot more viewings, there is no urgency from tenants TOLET and there is an oversupply lof rentals)," Foggo said. OH NO! ANYTHING BUT THIS! Quick, Orchestra Wellington, please bring us your smallest violins so we can rend our clothing and hair at this tragedy of homes being slightly more affordable instead of returning ever growing profit to landlords
