Do I know anyone who can redraw a photo of me and a friend in the style of an early victorian satirical cartoon? Think Punch magazine. Not using the obvious technology. Some budget available ...

I think I just resent the nuts and bolts of our trade being away and used for so much dull writing that it looks bad when we go back to them. Much sighing and nashing of teeth over this side.

A still from Line of Duty with four angst ridden police officers sat in a dismal room, rows of folding chairs all facing forward with a whiteboard at the back of the room. It looks suspiciously like a particularly dispiriting Edinburgh Fringe venue.

Why does it look like AC-12 do their briefings in a PBH Venue in Leith?

Actually when you consider how long that opening sentance is and how many different things it does, it's definitely human. Only I could possibly *that* undisciplined a writer.

I've got very used to seeing that opening sentance in AI copy, I think. Especially the kind where the writer has basically listed all of their opinions on something into ChatGPT and told it to write it for them. But of course that makes perfect sense β€” what else were these things trained on?

This is five years ago though. Way before LLMs were a) commonly used and b) good enough to write that paragraph. It was all me own work, guv. It's worth thinking about if you're planning on shouting "J'ACCUSE!!" at someone for their AI use.

This is interesting. I was looking up an article I wrote back in 2021 on the flawed Discworld adaption The Watch, and if I read this now I would be abspolutely convinced it was a ChatGPT job that the author had them fluffed a bit. The opening, the dash and "quietly deploys" are dead giveaways.

"Everyone learned how to press buttons, and no one remembered how to dive for pearls" - beautiful Terry Pratchett line (from 1981's Strata) that I'm going to start deploying whenever someone posts shit AI Discworld art.

I fucking love this song. I also love the it's Blur pulling an In Uteroβ€” Both Blur and Nirvana released albums that got them huge teenybopper audiences, and both opened their next albums with a queasy dischord to scare the shit out of them.

Noel Gallagher talks BRIT Awards Songwriter Of The Year controversy: "If anybody's got a problem with it, meet me there. We'll have it out on the red carpet" Noel GallagherΒ has addressed the controversy around hisΒ BRIT AwardΒ for Songwriter of the Year, calling on critics to β€œmeet me there”.

"we sold a million records last year. Didn’t even get off the couch and I’m not sure there’s a songwriter that can match that.” I think Noel might be misremembering last year a bit. He looked quite busy to me. www.nme.com/news/music/n...

Gang, how are we currently coping with *all this*? Because I'm not coping especially well today.

Honestly watching people post AI art is like watching people queue up to walk into suicide booths because there's a sign on them that says "This way to the Egress".

The use of Phantom Planet’s β€˜California’ in the finale of Wonderman made me feel incredibly old, because it implies The OC was so long ago that it’s once-indelible theme can be safely used in something else without the entire audience going β€œIs that the song from The OC”?

I’ll post it right up here for anyone else. I haven’t read this since I wrote my book, it’s such a great interview. Terry was an exceptional journalist- the way he starts with the softballs, gets under Gates’ defences and then turns up the heat is *chef’s kiss*: www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/6l1hb...

God, I know I'm a sucker and it's kind of a scame these days but ... Record Store Day 2026 seems designed to purposely torture me, personally. I am DROOLING.

Genuinely, it was listening to the vinyl of that earlier that prompted me to stick the whole album on! I was there for the Sunday too.
