(You can also tell Capcom disagree with this idea that action RE is inherently more marketable because Requiemβs marketing focused way more on Grace instead of putting Leon front and centre from the start)

RE5 is still just about on top, but that data was prior to RE7 getting a Switch 2 release, so it may have already changed. If thereβs a Switch 2 port, I imagine RE2R will be the best-selling title in the series by the end of the year
Itβs fascinating how many people are still wedded to the idea action horror Resident Evils sell more than survival horror REs, when Capcomβs own data suggest theyβre pretty evenly matched (top 10 slightly misleading as RE4-6 are broken up across multiple versions)
The whole thing with the house of living villagers is so funny on a replay because itβs justβ¦ pointless? Obviously they were all going to die by the end of the game, but they couldβve eked it out. Itβs not like Ethan needed an incentive to go back out into danger
Yeah, I didnβt realise until I double checked but itβs actually from the same piece doing the rounds
It was a good way of getting people like me back in but you probably canβt do a whole console for that
AIUI Whitty isnβt great on trans stuff, he thinks the Cass report was good, heβs just not mad
Price is also why the Series S wouldβve, IMO, been a genius move *if* there hadnβt been that extended cross-gen period. People didnβt need a budget option to play newer games, because they could save even more money by playing them on PS4 or Xbone
Which, in turn, wouldβve probably made this gen more of an even match too
I suspect that if Microsoft had buckled on the Kinect being bundled in before launch, that gen wouldβve been much more of an even match
I think a lot of people remembering that time with even slightly more clarity recognise that as the moment that crystallised everything that had been bad about Xbox since around 2010 and Kinect. Then again you do still get people blaming everything solely on Don Mattrick which is just myopic.
Honestly even the DRM stuff gets overblown IMO, given they reversed course pretty quickly. The big killer was price. For people who didnβt give a shit about Kinect, they were offering a pretty much identical console to the PS4 at an Β£80 premium
The little trolling video Sony put out was after *their* E3 conference, and I still fully believe they were considering doing the DRM stuff too, they just had the advantage of seeing the backlash to MS quietly confirming it
Yeah, the 2010 E3 conference is probably the real inflection point (though they got rid of Blades before that, which makes me sad as I missed out on that UI)
The "new xbox experience" taking the functional, Game-focused blades dashboard and turning it into a Web Powered Multimedia Node was an early sign of something deeply wrong that those of us who aren't idiots remember noticing
They actually did respond to criticisms of the reveal by focusing purely on games for their E3 conference. But, because they didnβt address the concerns around the DRM, it was a bad move in the other direction. They never advertised the DRM as a selling point
The console was revealed in May 2013 and had that confusing event where half the focus was on television. It was a bad first impression but it was survivable, the problem was the bad word of mouth over the DRM stuff between the reveal and E3 in June
Itβs kinda funny, though understandable, how much people misremember the Xbox One reveal and turn a slow-motion trainwreck into a single bad event that did them in
Way too many first person cutscenes in the opening hour of village. Itβs not too bad when Iβve not played in a while and am actually watching them, but still feels like a lot of these moments could have been gameplay, even if it was scripted gameplay
Iβm grateful for this because the joy cons just arenβt very useful for precise aiming without gyro
Capcom are a bit annoying with how they have motion controls set up so horizontal movement is only tuned to yaw or roll (I canβt remember which), which makes the gyro kinda useless and unintuitive in handheld mode, *but* works well when the joy cons are detatched
Okay, I played it for five minutes for the photo, Iβm actually playing Village. Chris Redfield is a moron
I should probably give that another go
Getting the 4D Requiem experience this morning (the overhead light directly in front of me keeps blinking too)
Operation Barbarossa-coded

Iβm so sorry
Urgh
Aye, though worth noting it wasnβt just progressives. Those βme and the boysβ memes werenβt particularly progressive coded
Turns out that opposing a war because you think good American soldiers shouldnβt be sent to die for foreigners isnβt the same as opposing a war on the basis of moral principle.
