Oh zo zat er vroeger ook eentje in mijn klas. Ik had haar voordien mijn samenvattingen gegeven en nadien vond iedereen het zo erg voor haar. Heel mijn vertrouwen in de mensheid door elkaar geschud. 🥲

Na drie jaar zit mijn hoofd bomvol info die ik nu zo vlot mogelijk in een doctoraat probeer te gieten. Hopelijk komt daar nadien gauw een écht boek uit, want ik kan niet wachten om het met iedereen te delen! (7/7)

Ik vertel met mijn doctoraat niet alleen het verhaal van die grote ontwikkelingen, maar ook van de ‘lived experience’: wat betekende dat nu allemaal voor individuele medewerksters in hun dagelijks leven? Om daarachter te komen, had ik de eer om enkele oudere medewerksters te interviewen. (6/7)

Het is een verhaal van experiment en onderhandeling, en het toont aan dat de katholieke wereld van die tijd veel diverser was en dat katholieke vrouwen meer agency hadden dan we soms denken. (5/7)

Ze hadden ook een heel uitgebreid netwerk in binnen- en buitenland en binnen en buiten de Kerk. Zo hadden ze een niet te onderschatten theologische en intellectuele impact op de Katholieke Kerk van het midden van de twintigste eeuw. (4/7)

Ze werden hierin gesteund door bisschoppen, maar tegengewerkt door het Vaticaan. Toch slaagden ze erin om de kerkelijke leer in te zetten om hun bestaan te verantwoorden, en zelfs mee richting te geven aan belangrijke nieuwe ontwikkelingen. (3/7)

Het artikel gaat vooral in op de wie-wat-waar-wanneer, maar in mijn doctoraat ga ik nog veel verder. Toen ze ontstonden in 1917 was er een sterke scheiding tussen ‘de leken’ en ‘de religieuzen’, maar de eerste medewerksters wilden elementen van beide levensvormen combineren. (2/7)

I found a book from 2014 on deconnection for 1 euro. Very entertaining: some predictions came true, other times the author was completely wrong (in retrospect). This passage made me close the book for a few minutes, and take a deep breath.
