I'm gonna start promoting it on my platform so I hope a Spanish publisher picks it up for translation and you can join a future Celsius 232 event and do some signing. Machinations are in order, Shipwife Barker.

Hey @rjbarker.bsky.social! I just finished The Bone Ships and it's the best thing I've read in my life, and I read a fucking lot. When you get the series translated to Spanish you might want to get Meas' name changed as it means "You pee" in Spanish. Just letting you know ๐ค๐ป
I CAN'T finish a book if the MC is dumb, and this girl really did the "Oh, you know about the secret room? Let me tell you all I know about it". I don't care that it's a short book. I can't. #booksky
Brain: We have a four day weekend.
Me: *Buys two book nooks*

It's a fun time with unhinged muscular women and dragons. Can't go wrong with that ๐
I'm just gonna say: Female warriors, queer romance, Mongolian vibes and dragon riders against the Empire. #booksky
It can be a great book, I can enjoy the plot and the world building, but if this becomes a thing in fantasy I'm gonna start avoiding it, cause those will never be 5 stars for me.
It's gotten to a point where, if an author says they got inspired by Brandon Sanderson, you know they're about to drop the sloggiest 900 page book you could imagine with a really interesting premise that will develop in the last 20% of the book. And I can't stress enough how much I don't like that.
Book stats of week 10:
+1 book
+776 pages
A calmer week than usual.
Therapy for when I ran out of space ๐
Daughters' Wars was a trophy purchase cause I read the ARC, it was one of my favourite reads of 2024 and I had to buy it. When are we getting a prequel to the prequel @buehlmeister.bsky.social ?
Spending 100โฌ in books instead of spending 70โฌ on therapy is my way of living.
Are you sure?
More important, summoning demons WITHOUT YOU. That's the disrespect here.
I'll be checking on the updates ๐
March is Women's month so all my TBR is going to be by female authors. And there are some bricks waiting for me this month.
Book stats of week 9:
+3 books
+1276 pages
+2 series finished
Today I've been to heaven (Klementinum's library, Prague).
This is the alchemy museum in Prague and behind the hidden door in the bookcase were the laboratories from the V century and the tunnels to escape the city.
In other words, a bookworm's heaven. #booksky
One of the best parts of the internet is that you might be thinking about how shitty the world is and then someone random appears really excited about something they achieved in life and you're like "I'm gonna be happy for them cause they just reminded me the world can be a nice place to live in".
Hell yeah! Proud of you, kiddo!
To make extra money I'd say
I had 50 pages left and didn't want to bring the hardback with me on the plane and didn't want to pay 14 euros for the ebook to read the ending.
Alright #booksky, question. Illegally downloading an ebook is wrong cause that doesn't support the author, but what if I download it even though I have the hardback and I supported the author?
I visited Prague's castle (including St Vitus cathedral and its clock tower), Strahov's abbey, Kafka's museum, the water mill's gremlin and Karluv's old bridge.
First day in Prague and this city is stunning.
Strahov abbey's library, Prague.
Visiting the Franz Kafka museum just to find out he dated a Zionist woman and in one letter he told her how he'd love to settle in Palestine because he was enamored with the land of Israel.
HELL YEAH!! I knew you'd get it
I've been thinking about making an extra tiktok account to make videos in Spanish, to spread fantasy recommendations in another language. And also if I get to 1000 subs in YouTube I might start interviewing authors of books I loved or I'm loving, if they'd like.
Just some thoughts.
