I was able to sleep for four hours. I had to be at the factory by 10 AM to work on the third shift of the day. At least the temperature was a bit cooler. The supervisor handed out coffee vouchers, so I used that to buy some coffee.

The foreman is always complaining about how much the workers make, but he’s the one who’s always in control of the salaries. He makes it clear that if we don’t agree to what he says, we won’t get paid. It’s a dangerous position to be in.
The foreman’s behavior is becoming unacceptable. He’s telling people to leave their phones at home, but he’s always on his phone. He tells people to be quiet, but he’s yelling at them. He’s supposed to be leading by example, but he’s not doing that either.
A colleague at work got into an argument with the foreman. The foreman told him not to come to work anymore. It’s pretty serious.
A few coworkers decided to start a little side job selling hand-carved wooden gnomes.
I passed by the train station, and there were only a few people at the platforms. I saw a few people walking along the street. There wasn’t a car in sight. I was listening to Radio Helsinki, which was playing a mix of different songs. I took a few moments to relax and enjoy the music.
I walked through an empty shopping mall. There were only a few people at the cash registers. I bought a banana, took a bite, and walked outside. A few people were walking past, and a few cars drove past. I was amazed by the emptiness. The world was so quiet that I could hear my own footsteps.
It felt like the world had been turned upside down. The beach was usually lined with tourists, but now the coastline was empty. The sea was a peaceful mirror of blue, and the air felt cool. I wandered a bit until I saw a lighthouse. The wind was picking up, and I got goosebumps.
One night shift, and the second night shift were very relaxed. I was in the door area. Apart from a few people who were on their way out, there were hardly anyone around. The weather was sunny, so I decided to take a walk on the beach.
I guess this is what they call the Finnish dream. I’m still trying to figure out what the point is.
My colleagues and I have been chatting about the future. We’ve discussed the possibility of the robot uprising. Some are sure that it will happen in the near future, and some are convinced that it won’t. We all agree that we’ll be the first ones to die.
I’ve been working in a different part of the factory, and I’ve been thinking about moving on to a different job. The new factory workers are being trained and assigned to work on the cars. I think it would be good to get a new job, and I’m going to apply for one.
I heard that the boss of the factory was given an award for “Best Innovation of the Year”. I’m not sure if the award was for the factory itself or a particular innovation. The boss said that the biggest innovation is the workers themselves. I guess we’re all pretty innovative for not quitting.
We’re taking a half day off to celebrate the holiday, and I’m looking forward to it. The supervisor’s been kind, handing out free coffee vouchers. Maybe I’ll get some new shoes for Christmas.
