There wasn't many artists experimenting with sampling in '75. And there wasn't many using synths either. But here's Joni doing both *in the same track*

Wowβwell now I know why everyone used to make such a big deal of it. I'd no idea it ran for so long. It had a great innings (much like Danny O'Dea).

Alt: prince is playing a guitar on stage while wearing a red hat .
The guitar that Prince played at Harrison's HoF induction. The one that disappeared in to thin air when he threw it.

I wouldn't go that far. But I think there's less sex in mainstream art and entertainment now than there used to be. People are having a lot less sex too (apparently). And the rise of rightwing views in Western Culture marches in lockstep with Christian fundamentalism, so it may get worse.

What a game. If you've never played the final act with the little scouse kid Cuno as your partner, it's well worth going again to see just how much great stuff they wrote for something I imagine less than 5% of players ever get to see.

Love and Mercy was a good track, but all the Landy weirdness going on in the background gives the album a weird vibe for me.

I've always thought of them as more of a singles group (no shame in that) but The Circus and The Innocents are great albums in their own right. And the Abbaesque EP was sheer genius. The most fun I've ever seen arch-miserablist Vince Clarke having!

The restaurant scene in Godfather is close to a number one. A masterclass in how to craft suspense, even Hitchcock could have learned a thing or two from it.

In fairness, younger me was lucky enough to grow up in a time when music was the dominant pop culture force, and there was incredible stuff coming out on a weekly basis. They'd probably tell older me to piss off.

Yeah, it's sort of a climb on the first part, then a drop on the second, but the melody seems to have a life of its own. It's one of my absolute favourites of theirs. And some way to open an albumβyou've barely gathered your jaw from the floor and it's over!

Guided by VoicesβMan called Aerodynamics
Kicks off like an explosion in a guitar shop, with a vocal so laid back it's practically horizontal. A slice of genius worth looking up in the book-mobile.

It is remarkable that a song that is so unashamedly synth-pop can sound this timeless. It's all down to the elegance of the melody, delivered effortlessly by Bell.

Was great to see Salah and Robbo among the goals tonight. When we went up the gears finally we looked far better than themβshould have won by a lot more than 2.
Sadly, it all just makes Tuesday's result all the more bloody annoying.
Up the inconsistent reds! βββ

An unmistakably Gallic theme to Stall 1. And whilst I love Brel and Trenet's La Mer, I have to go for this utter gem, which was a #1 hit on the UK and sounds positively indecent in these more sexually repressed times. J'adore!
