My photo shows a Roman fresco of a brown rabbit with long ears, curled on the ground, with a rounded, soft-looking body. Its head is lowered as if nibbling at three figs placed in front of it. The figs are small and round with short stems, painted in dark reddish and bluish tones. From Pompeii. Now on display at the National Archaeological Museum in Naples.

Blue sky, darker at the top and gradually becoming paler lower down. There are two large leafless trees in silhouette, one at each side of the photo. At the bottom there’s a very dark band, a hint of fields and distant trees. Just above this is a long, thin, horizontal line of cloud that looks like it has been twisted. There is some brightness from sunshine on the left.

A Long-tailed Tit is captured mid-flight, silhouetted against the golden light of a rising sun. Its delicate wings are fully outstretched, glowing amber at the edges as the sunlight filters through. The blurred outline of trees forms a dark contrast in the background, framing the bird’s graceful ascent. A perfect moment of movement and light, reflecting the lengthening days of early spring.

Brighter mornings, a lighter step, and a Long-tailed Tit soaring towards spring...

I always wonder if there is anything trapped - it must happen a lot. I’m afraid the people who care aren’t the ones who throw the litter away. The need for manufacturers to take some responsibility is so overdue it’s criminal 😠
