goodmorning i love rats so much but MAN their lives are way too short and it gets me in the heart everytime

i know its coming, we can see it a mile off.
but it feels so cosmically cruel that just as Maz is starting to come out of her shell again and heal that her body has put an ever narrowing time constraint in place ;w;

i have 3 atm, Maz being the oldest, and shes starting to develop a lil mammary tumor. with her age and her skin we dont think shed survive removing it. so its a sad waiting game of letting her live her little life untill it starts to effect her quality of life.

rats are such lovely creatures but they get so deeply attatched to ppl and eachother, you have to have more than 1 at once, but it allways breaks my heart when one passes and the others left behind mourn

(Maz started scratching when her sister died and never really stopped, vet thinks it became a habbit, but shes slowly stopped after gettin new cagemates and with A LOT of cream rubbed on her skin to help it heal
im proud of her mellowing out, shes even starting to come out of the cage again ;w;)

Maz's skin is clearing up so well and shes sctatching alot less, and is actually starting to regrow fur in places thankgod
