Crystal Palace defender Charlie Walker-Smith says the young Eagles are determined to keep their cup run going as they prepare to face Aston Villa F.C. in the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup at Villa Park on Tuesday evening (10th March, 18:00 GMT). #crystalpalace
The Serow is amazing isnt it!
Shame I didn't spot you @vikkislademp.bsky.social would have said Hallo ( Corinna Smart) one of my happy places in MDNP !
Wonderful photos Shaun !
Its interesting that I feel we had a better time last year when the ice floes were 100 ks away & so watched 200 Stellas and 400 WTE actively hunting the fish thrown to them . Facinating watching the different techniques of hunting & flying. But whatever the winter gathering is something else!

"The shocking fall of three years for women and two years for men, in just three years, reveals the cumulative impact of the Tory/Liberal Democrat austerity programme and the gross mismanagement of the pandemic."

The Representation of the People Bill contains some useful measures, but it must go further – put proportional representation on the statute books, shut loopholes that let dark money in, and modernise media platform oversights to stop misinformation and disinformation.
Poole Park - The Forster's Tern that has been frequenting the posts near the model boating area within the park. Also Sandwich Tern and the resident drake Mandarin Duck 🦉🌍🦜@dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social @harbourbirds.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social @rarebirder.bsky.social
Ad Short-tailed Albatross, we saw 45 of these beauties, recovering from near extinction. Many were close to the boat and allowed flight shots with my bridge camera.
Laysan Albatross, at least 24, along with 25 Black-footed and more than 5000 Streaked Shearwater seen on the crossing
The very attractive and island endemic male Izu Thrush
Ural Owl, having missed this in Hokkaido where the "known" roost tree has fallen down, I thought we were going to draw a blank on this desirable species. Thanks to some local gen we were able to see one in a Tokyo park!
Home after an amazing time in wonderful Japan. I said it before and I will say it again. Where did we go wrong? The last part of our trip was around Tokyo and included a trip out to the Izu Islands. A must do at this time of year for the chance of an albatross spectacular on the return ferry.
been busy today only just seen this!
Siberian Crane, critically endangered, my first sighting since I saw the now long gone birds at Bharatpur in 1990! An adult has been here for a few weeks.
White-naped Crane, arguably one of the most attractive cranes in the world. c3000 winter in southern Japan.
Hooded Crane, the commonest crane in the area. 10000 plus around Izumi.
Sandhill Crane, primarily a North American species. A small hand full feeding among the Hooded and White-naped.
The real draw in Kyushu for a birder are the Cranes, c14,000 of them wintering around Izumi alone. 6 species were possible, we found 5. Missing the single Demoiselle that is somewhere in the feeding flocks. In addition to a single figure number of Common here are the others.....
On a dedicated boat trip with a local fisherman, now turned conservationist, we enjoyed splendid views and vocalisations of at least 14 birds. They are just returning to the neighbouring island for the breeding season.
All around the town road signs raising awareness of the "Crowned Sea-Sparrow" were proudly displayed.
The local authority have produced an informative brochure explaining their life cycle and what local people can do to protect them. Printed in both Japanese and English. Another great example of a town and its officials getting behind conservation.
And my last Kyushu post goes to another town embracing & protecting "their" iconic species. Reminded me of home & the work done by @harbourbirds.bsky.social in making Poole & Osprey two words that lie expectedly in the same sentence. Kadogawa & Japanese Murrelet. This vulnerable alcid is celebrated.
We love our cute red squirrels,
Of Brownsea Island fame,
But one thing now is lacking,
And really quite a shame:
They’re missing an emoji,
To illustrate their tale,
Let’s get behind our squirrels,
And get it off our chest,
Demand a new emoji,
To show we love them best!

We didn’t expect to catch this Kestrel during a garden winter CES catch in Dorset this morning. Then to find the bird had a Dutch ring and a satellite tag!! (Tracking data in comments below ⬇️)
Incredible ringing recovery this AM by Stour Ringing Group of a Kestrel caught near Arne which was carrying a Dutch ring and a sat-tag. Well done for getting the data so quickly. Amazing movement for a bird that typically isn’t considered to move large distances. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social
We welcome Anas Sarwar’s commitment to ensure women’s prisons are genuinely single-sex & act quickly if Labour takes office in Scotland. This reflects Supreme Court’s clear law on sex & women’s safety. We urge UK Labour to match this clarity and act nationwide.

Your trip will remind me of mine Feb 2025! Looking forward to more photos!
Early days in Japan & wasn't expecting so much snow so soon. Special to seen this iconic species though. Well worth the trip out to Sado. #CrestedIbis now doing incredibly well having been rescued from Japanese extinction with re-introduction project. The whole island has embraced their return.
We remember Lord David Triesman with gratitude.
He was an early Labour voice willing to speak plainly about women’s rights and the importance of single-sex provision.
This clip from 2020 is a reminder of his courage and clarity — and how much has changed since.

One of Reforms 'new' old MPs has said that they wouldn't oppose scrapping our NHS & replacing it with a private model- like they have in the United States.
It is not fair, nor right, for healthcare to be something only the privileged can access.
Yet another reason why you can't trust Reform.
I am often asked by constituents why MPs talk about issues that take place outside of our country & this is why.
It matters what elected officials say and do when we see crimes such as the Holocaust taking place.
On Holocaust Memorial Day we remember the six million Jews who were killed.
''In your judgment, Mr. Speaker, for Members of the House to rise in their places and stand in silence in support of this protest against disgusting barbarism?''
