Current contract will be up in April so Im starting to put the feelers out for new work. If you need a generalist who knows their way around everything from technical art / shaders / lighting to characters to animation to environments to level design and unreal / unity then i know a guy! (its me!)

This last month- nearly EVERY game dev / artist I know has lost their jobs. I thought I was imagining it- but no- its 90% of the games people i know are currently looking for work. Don't really know what to say about that other than stare silently into the void and wish we all had jobs.

I maintain a dream feed account on there and see what the 3d feeds are. Its X game is slop. Y dev is slop. The same 3 people dunking on AI while paying for a blue checks. Absolute nightmare.

I hate that place so much and it’s complete garbage on top of that. You get zero engagement if you don’t punch down / be negative or actively fight with people. It’s trash. Yet I see so many people still using it and saying this place is too liberal.

How It feels to have a job/exist in the games industry.

I’ve always dreamed of a Calvin ball style game but it would be so hard to make I think- but I think the chaos of many rogue games fit.

Completely new rules every time would be like a complete nightmare though. Maybe a massive list of rules and mutators to pick from

Got my kid Donkey Kong Bananza for his bday and this game has some really great sauce. After he went to bed I spent like 2hrs just smashing stuff and thinking about all the little tech art details they did. Really incredible destruction tech. The rocks in this game are 🤌🤌

i think what a lot of people never seem to realize is that a lot of people's vision of an "epic dream game" isn't actually very deep and comes down to scale and/or having a lot of features, whereas by embracing limitations you can be pushed in a far more radical direction.

The amount of times I sit in a call with a dreamer and their dream game is basically "everything from my favorite six games smashed together into perfect harmony and there was endless flawless content and it has graphics everyone likes" and I have to explain that making feet go on stairs is hard
