Jeff Bezos, ironically, proves himself to be exactly what the subtitle of this collection calls out: a sycophant for Donald Trump, the president who has had the most vain and pathetic need to be spoken positively about in the media.
We may have tried again with a new ISBN, testing our luck, but when presented with the option to publish via Lulu, reutter decided that was the best route. He has distributed hundreds of copies of the book throughout his local area.
For the Soup Cans anthology, I was eventually able to jump through everything they could come up with. But for g emil reutter’s collection, they would not give me anything to jump through, just a final decision for a vague non-reason.
Amazon tried putting up multiple roadblocks for that title as well. Alien Buddha Press publishes many books a year, and over 99% of the time they go live a day after being sent into review, without question.
This anthology started with a dedication to the very handsome and incredibly based Luigi Mangoni, and then a tribute in solidarity with the striking Amazon warehouse workers, standing with them as they demanded more money and better working conditions.
I went around in circles like this with Amazon for 3 weeks.
The last time that we were made to jump through hoops to publish a collection was an anthology from last summer, “The Alien Buddha’s Big Backpack Full of Soup Cans: Soup for Our Families.”
The most we could get from them was that they thought the “metadata may cause a misleading customer experience,” and when I asked them what that meant, I was given a link to a long, vague list of unrelated topics.
The new collection from Pennsylvania poet g emil reutter, published multiple times by Alien Buddha Press, that Amazon not only refused to publish, but would not even give a direct answer as to why.

The tournament will conclude at Alien Buddha Press’ ten-year anniversary in June 2027, and the winner will receive a $300 prize.
Selections from the tournament will be compiled into either one full-length print anthology or a short series.
The theme and subject are open. The word limit is 5,000 words. Two TBA guest judges and EIC Red will narrow the sixteen competitors down to eight, and the Round 3 brackets will be set by mid-July.
The sixteen remaining competitors will have until June 22, 2026, to write and submit an original work of fiction.
