Absolutely not. X is already bad enough.

I would love to have a candidate who does not sound “presidential”, who does not “have a dream”, who does not crave power. I want a good condo administrator. I want a president of the Swiss Federation. The humble yet noble servant, who does a job and retires. Truman, Ike, Carter, Reagan.

It does not help you sharpen your arguments, or persuade your opponents. What it does, is making the argument irrelevant and the opponents oblivious of other ideas.
Maybe it's a good time to remember the Aventine secession and not to repeat the errors of the past.

I am not posting on Bluesky, but I check the posts on my feed regularly. And by now, my only reaction is: what do you think you are doing? Whatever opinion you had, you have only made more irrelevant. Repeating to like-minded followers that this is Fascism or the Apocalypse doesn't help anyone.

In 1924, after a socialist MP had been killed at the hand of fascists, 123 MPs "seceded" to the Aventine hill, in the spirit of the Roman Republic. Two years later, their mandate expired. They had accomplished nothing. The secession is a footnote to the gradual fascist takeover.
