I am sick of people invoking 'freedom' as an argument against any rule they don't like. It's lazy and typically hypocritical when others freedoms are affected. Freedom has become a synonym for individualism and selfishness and an antonym to 'community' and 'responsibility'.
The worst part is not the trump nonsense, but the amount of people genuinely celebrating the pain and suffering of others. The downfall of society is the "haha those people got what's coming for them" and the "must be God's will" crowd.
The deployment of federalized National Guard troops to California, without consent from local or state officials, is deeply troubling. These are tactics seen in authoritarian regimes, not in America. We want to be clear, the military should not be used to police civilians.
