I don't see these 'this person wouldn't have been a British hero under the proposed asylum rules' pieces as being positive. They're less 'Gotcha, racists!', than 'Here, racists, target these ones!'. If people want to tell their own story, fair enough, but maybe don't shine the spotlight on them.
