This semester I’m getting to teach Women in the Modern World, and their first project has the students researching case studies of women’s suffrage around the world. Today I got to hear presentations from 8 of them and it was THE BEST WAY to start my day!

Women’s Work: Speaking Truth in the White City β€” Fannie Barrier Williams and the 1893 Columbian Exposition | The Saturday Evening Post From the World’s Congress stage to decades of activism in Chicago and beyond, Fannie Barrier Williams showed that speaking truth and insisting on being seen could itself pave the way for change.

Last weekend I dove into Fannie Barrier William’s life and her experiences at the 1893 world’s fair. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it! www.saturdayeveningpost.com/2026/02/wome...

I was homeschooled in the 80s/90s and while it was successful for me, I don’t recommend it. Also, Washington and Lee wanted me to do extra SAT 2 tests for admission because I was homeschooled. When I tried to transfer into our public school for senior year, they said they wouldn’t give me a diploma

Students’ Tiananmen Protest Turned Deadly, Transforming U.S.-China Relations | Retro Report YouTube video by RETRO REPORT

Tonight kicks off my return as a @retroreport.org ambassador. Loved doing this in 2024 and excited to be back. My latest favorite is their newer video on Tiananmen, used with my 9th graders last week: youtu.be/cv9VmBmpTPA?...

Women’s Work: How The Bionic Woman Redefined Women on TV | The Saturday Evening Post Would U.S. audiences accept a woman not only as part of a speculative world, but as its primary agent of action?

This month I wrote about something a bit different for my column, and I loved every bit of it. Hope it gives you some enjoyment, too! www.saturdayeveningpost.com/2026/01/wome...

Women’s Work: The Last Queens of Hawaii | The Saturday Evening Post The last two queens of Hawaii imagined new ways to care for people with leprosy; their efforts did not last, but their legacy remains.

Sent! I’m really just happy that I published something every month, but I nominated my January 2025 piece because the research I did for that stood out to me www.saturdayeveningpost.com/2025/01/wome...

Here’s my last published piece for 2025 - thrilled that I was able to have something published every month this year, a first for me.

Cabbage Patch dolls were high on my want list - also not something I got, except for a knock-off homemade version.

Sadly didn’t get my first AG doll until I was an adult, but I was reading the books by β€˜88!
