Did he pilot the ships himself?
Did he pilot the ships himself?
100% agree with this sentiment.
Also, stop it with the armchair game devving. Playing demos doesnβt make you an expert on anything. Indie games in particular should not be playtested to death. Letβs stop perpetuating the worst parts of industrial game development.
I've been running gdcparties.com for a few years now. Some shitty company BlueberryAI decided they'd just take all the source code for the work I've done and reskin it, advertising it as their own. Jokes on them...it was still linked to my events spreadsheet, and now their website looks like this π
A friend of mine who runs these things always repeats something to me along the lines of "Playtests and Research isn't for telling you the right thing to do, it's to confirm to you that your assumptions are correct and that your intentions are getting through to the players" and that's stuck with me
I remember that when I played it, I felt it was a number of very good cut scenes with ps2 stealth (this is good!) gameplay plonked in-between.
Life goals
Norwegian government went HARD on this one... π
More governments should be taking notes and legislating around enshittification. #technofeudalism
(And yes, the fact that we're applauding a govt doing something we should be EXPECTING them all to be doing is not lost on me...)
I love the Games Industry but far too much of it is apparently run by very boring people.
"Why do you want to have a 1970s music pavilion at the Shakespeare festival?"
"It features wine made by the chairman of the Chinese Communist Party!"
"But how does that make it anything to do with Shakespeare?"
"Mao is the vintner of our disco tent!"
[Exit, pursued by a bear]
I guess there should have been a #LastFourWatched attached to that.
We did exactly this for a Medal of Honor I worked on.
- Return of the Living Dead - Franklyn - Alice, Sweet Alice - Torso
A good week for watching good movies, Most of them were rewatches.
- The 2nd best horror-comedy of all time (Reanimator is the best one)
- A gem that time forgot
- A very good American giallo
- The sleaziest of the sleaziest Italian proto-slashers
This isnβt going to get better.
A picture of PEW poll on global attitude survey, saying the % who rate the morality and ethics of people in their country as good vs bad, where the US has the worst rankings and Canada the best
Americans: we live in a fallen stateβembroiled by sin, cheating, lying, and evil. You cannot trust anyone, not even those who claim to know you best
Canadians: I love my neighbors and my friends!
FT comments section this morning - saying what everyone else is thinking, right?
Post an iconic horror movie image.
How I arrived on bluesky.
this sucks. no patience for the people laughing at it, calling it concord 2.0, etc. if 2 million people pick up a game, and you have to shutter it and lay everyone off, it doesn't matter if the game is good or bad. it's a symptom of a much bigger and deeper problem.
This is what weβve always done. Since itβs the first real piece of game, itβs also invariably cursed with some bugs all later levels/missions have stayed away from. But weβve always shipped them.
Anton Chigurh with altered subtitles: If the VS you developed brought you to this... ... of what use was the VS?
Re: vertical slices in game dev: I feel like if you make a VS and you don't wind up shipping the content you made in that VS, you didn't actually make a successful VS.
Oh, this is indicative of how you want the game to look and play? Then why didn't you ship it?
Mandy did get a region B release though!
Even finding a dodgy region free bluray player has been an issue :)
I just bought Beyond the Black Rainbow but to my great sorrow it was a Region A disc π (We have region B here in Sweden).
Yeah, I just rewatched The Raid 2 & realized I wanted to see the first one again too :)
Hey, do you remember that time when those movies you ordered from different vendors all showed up at the same time?
Some are born with the gift of prophecy
And Shadow!

Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads: The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same... - Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist
Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.
