Maybe I shouldn't mention that said person owns a company in Scotland selling packages to races and one of his first employees was me... but that's a whole other story.

NEWS: Formula 1 in 2026 is great, and you know it

People forget so easily. 2014 actually was a bad change and they sorted it... eventually.
I drafted a post last week suggesting the new F1 rules would take time to shake out. Give them time to work out the bugs and let's see after a few weeks.
I just remembered I was going to update it tonight. It'll have to be tomorrow, now.
I happened to glance at a very old F1 group* earlier and according to the resident boisterous loudmouth it is because of woke lefty eco nonsense.
(*Currently on FB but was previously elsewhere, I've been on/off since 1998.. might leave now).
the brouhaha over the new regs reminds me of when i used to hate on oval racing, and then i watched it and realized it was very strategic and way more interesting than "go fast always while turning left" and i shut the fuck up and stopped complaining on the internet about things i didn't understand
This is going to be a parade isn't it.
1.66 miles is barely longer than Lime Rock.
0.40 mile straight.
The IndyCar DC race course has been revealed. 1.6 miles of garbage.

Yes. Leclerc is going to Turkington his way to the front every race.
My fears before the race were the same as Martin Brundle's. Like him I'm pleasantly surprised we got 15 to the flag.
Aston did a few more laps than I expected
Cadillac, not bad, Perez only 2 laps down which is better than I thought they'd be, given they were 7 seconds off a couple of weeks ago.
Credit to Audi for being right up there straight away as a single-supplier. Then it's Haas & Racing Bulls, maybe Alpine.
Then a gap to a very underwhelming Williams. Saying all the effort was on 2026 and were never close to the top 10.
Pecking order right now:
Mercedes, Ferrari v.close, then Red Bull. If Hadjar had stayed in, or Verstappen not started last, they'd have been a clear 5th.
McLaren is next with work to do. Then a big gap.
I do think Hamilton was right, at the first VSC they should've split strategies. A chance of 2nd probably gone.
I have just watched the Australian Grand Prix.
Lot of fun. This so much better than DRS. Always thought the drivers would figure it out and by halfway they did, felt much more like a normal F1 race by then. And the Mercedes are scarily good on old tyres.
I have watched sport all day. Including a bit of Winter Paralympics.
Did you know there's a Sitting Downhill event? Competitors sit in a chair which is attached to a mono-ski. Their poles have little skis on. It's amazing.
And all of a sudden it is 10:40pm.

Why are you saying JM Boullion, his name is Jean-Christophe.
That was a fun ending.
My feeling about Power and Rasmussen is the same as my feeling about Palou and Veekay.
Power/Palou both walked up the track toward the wall, Rasmussen/Veekay were already there and weren't seen. Not sure if the former should've had more warning by spotters, or if the latter should've backed out.
Excellent. A shame that Rasmussen couldn't hang on, but don't damage your car...
Newgarden using the new tyre strat the same way 8 years later.
Was hoping Kirkwood might hang on to it but he didn't get swamped on old tyres, still 2nd. Malukas recovered 3rd.
Damn. That was a fun battle.
This is a more enjoyable race than I was expecting. Based on vague memories of 2017/18.
Christian Rasmussen rocks. I love when a guy is only good at one thing, exceptionally good at it, and kind of a danger to himself and others even when doing his one thing.
I think it was "who was that, are they fucking stupid", about Mick
Newgarden and Malukus going high/low on Mick. Welcome to ovals.
I'm about 11 minutes behind and I'm distracted by a cat who insisted I open the front door and now he's just sitting there watching.
