People forget so easily. 2014 actually was a bad change and they sorted it... eventually.
I drafted a post last week suggesting the new F1 rules would take time to shake out. Give them time to work out the bugs and let's see after a few weeks.

the brouhaha over the new regs reminds me of when i used to hate on oval racing, and then i watched it and realized it was very strategic and way more interesting than "go fast always while turning left" and i shut the fuck up and stopped complaining on the internet about things i didn't understand

Cadillac, not bad, Perez only 2 laps down which is better than I thought they'd be, given they were 7 seconds off a couple of weeks ago.
Credit to Audi for being right up there straight away as a single-supplier. Then it's Haas & Racing Bulls, maybe Alpine.
Then a gap to a very underwhelming Williams. Saying all the effort was on 2026 and were never close to the top 10.
Pecking order right now:
Mercedes, Ferrari v.close, then Red Bull. If Hadjar had stayed in, or Verstappen not started last, they'd have been a clear 5th.
McLaren is next with work to do. Then a big gap.
I do think Hamilton was right, at the first VSC they should've split strategies. A chance of 2nd probably gone.
I have just watched the Australian Grand Prix.
Lot of fun. This so much better than DRS. Always thought the drivers would figure it out and by halfway they did, felt much more like a normal F1 race by then. And the Mercedes are scarily good on old tyres.

Did you know there's a Sitting Downhill event? Competitors sit in a chair which is attached to a mono-ski. Their poles have little skis on. It's amazing.

My feeling about Power and Rasmussen is the same as my feeling about Palou and Veekay.
Power/Palou both walked up the track toward the wall, Rasmussen/Veekay were already there and weren't seen. Not sure if the former should've had more warning by spotters, or if the latter should've backed out.
Excellent. A shame that Rasmussen couldn't hang on, but don't damage your car...
