If you're unfamiliar with deep ecology it's the child of the rather great but sadly deceased Arne Naess. I read Ecology, Community and Lifestyle in my 20s and it change my forever. I highly recommend it.

It's heartening to see some deep thought from the LD's. Before I left, as someone who espoused deep ecology at the height of the Orange Bookers, I was pretty much ridiculed.
My own creed could probably be best described as Deep Ecology, as per Arne Naess. He's only moderately prolific but he's had some real philosophical bangers if you're ever interested. I read Ecology, Community and Lifestyle in my 20s and it changed me.
I only have a shallow understanding of ML. The closest I've come to it in my reading is Paul Mason (lol) and more recently Saito. It was only when I'd read Slow Down that I realised I might have a lot in common with communists.
Your input is always appreciated Ben but I've had too much wine to trust my responses so I'll reply tomorrow π
Sure I'll get round to it on your recommendation but I've had to much wine to make much sense tonight so I'll get back to you tomorrow. And seriously, thanks for the input.
One of the reasons I've always admired, but stood aside from degrowth is because, culturally, de-greed is a prerequisite.
How do we sell sufficiency, and the idea that value should be placed on sustainability and circularity?

Congratulations, WaPo, you did it, you published the worst take
Aside from the homophobia, aside from the exhausting appeal to 'sensible centrism' aside from the 'fascism and socialism is the same BS, aside from the flat lie leftist policies make people poorer.
Crossing your fingers and hoping for growth literally *is* Labour's plan you fucking spanners.
hard agree - she's said a number of things that are **factually untrue** to justify far-right policy & strengthen far-right narratives
she should resign
Left can't resist being on wrong side of a war Whether it's Jeremy Corbyn or Zack Polanski, their foreign policy stances terrify voters outside core supporters
Well, hereβs the thing about being antiwar as an ethical belief: it means you end up opposing most wars. Almost all of them, in fact. This is quite common in people who have consistent beliefs but looks insane to people who have none, or mostly just believe superior people should make the decisions.
Have a lovely day, everyone.
Did they, though, Home Secretary? Is there any *actual evidence* that the post-2021 migration surge was a problem for any reason other than the numbers made racists angry?
Quietly, calmly and forensically, BBC just dismantled the Trump communications shitshow on Iran.
No hyperbole, just laying out an unprecedented military, diplomatic and reputational shambles.
Worth a watch.

At this point, honestly, what are "Labour values" apart from a truly sadistic adherence to "hard choices" that always come crashing down on the most vulnerable?
Hannah Spencer, "None of us are perfect, but we're human"
"And we need more humans in parliament who care about each other"
"And I promise I will always try my best and always be decent"
Haven't been able to look at her recently without the Imperial March playing as intrusive synesthesia.
It must be nice to have a Prime Minister who knows the difference between right and wrong.
I discovered something that just nauseated me to my core today - Polymarket has a huge number of bets running on climate impacts and disasters
An entirely new flavour of disaster capitalism
Labour could bring back our water into public hands but they care more about investors than they do about you

Luke Akehurst @lukeakehurst β’3h Looking forward to hearing what the magic Green strategy is for getting to 326 seats, as like Labour they would need to win the votes of white working class voters in Red Wall seats who are concerned about immigration, and traditional Con vs Lab swing voters. George Eaton @georgeeatonβ’8h Green surge was inevitable now the "wasted vote" argument no longer holds. Labour will need to offer positive reasons to think again rather than simply saying Greens couldn't win an election. I'd expect no less.
"...While many in the UN have been convinced of the 'imperative of moving beyond growth' for years...'there is a taboo still about questioning growth'.
That could change next month with De Schutter's roadmap and other initiatives allowing high-profile figures to 'come out of the closet' on growth."
Yes, sensei!

You'll get no arguments from me but in the here and now, this is what we've got to work with
