Drawn to a glimmer of water hidden in a hollow of a log, I walked around it, peered into gaps, noted lichen marks, fungi and the aptly placed score lines at its centre. I mapped the pool of rainwater and will record rainfall over a year: a miniature puddle world

Spending time by or in water seeps into my art, from puddles to rivers, sea, rain, snow, hail. For the UK River Summit exhibition on 8 July, I’ve selected drawings linking water in all its forms, as edges blur between land and rivers, rain, mist, and atmosphere. www.ruthbroadbent.com/uncategorize...
As I walk I draw, As I draw I walk. Walking a line for Line(s) of Enquiry exhibition & symposium. Words and drawn marks on paper flow seasonally, entwining movement, observations, sounds, conversations with memories of people, time, place.

Finding connections through water this week from re-reading rain chapter in Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer to listening to Leanne Betasamosake Simpson on Theory of Water. All resonate in different ways to my sensory approach to making artwork around water, seas, rivers, rain.
