Doublespeak rule: when the current administration states a reason for their actions, believe the opposite. (The guy told over 30K lies last term.) If they say something like "we're weeding out fraud and abuse," you can be sure that fraud and/or abuse are about to be nurtured like an epstein tween.

I'm sure we'll have heard it all before; the whining, the bragging, the verbal abuse. I'll let the news folks who have no choice watch it and I'll wait for a thumbnail synopsis. Or in this case, perhaps a middle-fingernail synopsis.

Few bands can say this: we've built a loyal Monday afternoon following. Serves me right for naming the band "Fridays," a day on which, it turns out, we seldom play. But "The Fat Mondays" actually sounds kinda sad.

My wife's mother was undocumented. Her French family, here for centuries, kept handwritten birth records in a bible. Being undocumented is a misdemeanor, not a felony. They have to catch you in the act of crossing the border to make it a felony. Warrantless searches are totally ... unwarranted.

It's Another Superb Owl Sunday

I took this shot earlier this century in Western Montana. We were visiting a friend and she mentioned having seen the young birds. She took us to find them, leading the way brandishing a shovel. "Why the shovel?" "Rattlesnakes." No snakes (or shovels) were harmed.

Big, Fat fun on a Monday morning.

So far I haven't heard anyone mention the impact of tons of drugs in the ocean. Not to mention human remains, fuel oil, and detritus from explosives and blown-up boats. Killing instead of catching them is lazy, at minimum, and ... messy. Destroying evidence is the objective, screw the environment.

It feels strange to memorialize on BlueSky. Perhaps it's because after having done the same for pets and dear friends on Facebook, it was all taken away without notice or explanation. A stolen scrapbook. Little digital footprints in the sand, waiting for the next tide to erase them.

We had to say goodbye to our dear friend Senta today. She was only with us for 6 years or so, poor girl. Sweet sweet kitty.

Aren't these tariffs the largest tax increase in American history? Why isn't anyone saying that? If they're not, they're darn close, and it's closer to the truth that anything they're saying.

It's brilliantly evil for a president to pardon criminals, creating instant loyalists. I'm guessing a lot of J6ers (who may have trouble getting real jobs) are now ICE agents, with $50K signing bonuses as reimbursement for the time they spent in jail, taking cruelty cues from the criminal-in-chief.
