๐จ Brussels, today ๐จUrsula! Stand up for Europe โ not for Trumpโs tech bros!
As the EU unveils its โDigital Omnibusโ today, we're rolling out billboards calling on @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu to stop bending to US and Big Tech pressure and enforce our digital laws #StandUpUrsulaโ
The EUโs #deregulation machine is running full-speed - and the Commission isn't keen on letting the public see how it works
In less than a year the Commission had 605 meetings with lobbyists on โsimplificationโ but #transparency is deeply insufficient

โThe entire information environment is influenced not just by monopolistic platforms but increasingly by the seemingly โdo no wrongโ AI industry + corporate surveillanceโ โ @davidakaye.bsky.social on the hold of corporate power over free speech.

"GDPR under attack" is the slightly provicative title for the session about to start at #PrivacyCamp25. I am here on behalf of the #EuropeanPirates, together with Sorana Ciovica, our new Operations Team Leader.
This upcoming Tuesday, 18.30h CEST, you can find out why scanning all our private messages is a very bad idea. Please join a webinar on #Chatcontrol, organized by @marketkag.bsky.social

A map of Europe titled "Help Stop #ChatControl!" shows countries color-coded by their government's stance on Chat Control in 2025. The legend indicates: green for "Not in favour," blue for "Undecided/Unclear," and red for "In favour." Countries in favour (red) are: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, and Spain. Countries not in favour (green) are: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, Netherlands and Poland. Countries undecided or unclear (blue) are: Estonia, Germany, Greece, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Romania, and Sweden (in favour, but subject to approval by Parliament). The map includes the text "Is your government opposing it yet?" and a call to action at the bottom: "Act now! www.chatcontrol.eu".
๐ฌ๐งPublic pressure works: Belgium, Finland & Czechia will NOT approve the #ChatControl mass surveillance law in October. But other governments whose vote is crucial are still on the fence. Urge them to protect our digital privacy and encryption now [โฆ]

I think we all get by now that #Chatcontrol will not go away by itself. All of us wanting a free and open society must commit to push back every time one member state or the other tries to move the proposal forward. This time around it is Denmark pushing it.

The 'Thรฉรขtre D'opรฉra Spatial' case has flown a bit under the radar given all of the ongoing copyright infringement cases. Prof Ryan Abbot has filed a motion for summary judgement on behalf of the claimant, and it makes for interesting reading. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Held my first recruitment interview for the European Pirates Team Lead positions today. Made me realize how long ago it was I was actually responsible for recruitment interviews, and how important it is for the the interviewer to be properly prepared to allow the interviewee to deliver their best.
First round of interviews for the Team Lead positions for the European Pirates will be held at the end of next week. Don't miss your chance to apply!

I have now been the Secretary General of the European Pirates for a month. There is a lot to do to get this organisation back into shape. But I am up for the challenge. Feel free to ask me anything about my plans here: discourse.european-pirateparty.eu/t/mattias-bj...

1 million to 1.4 million in 17 days! Incredible! Push for 1.5-1.6 million to have politicians pay more attention to us and build our buffer!: eci.ec.europa.eu/045/public
Come on gamers, gamer allies and relatives of gamers! Let's fight against "own nothing and be happy" and #StopKillingGames !
We made it! We reached 1 million signatures for the #stopkillingGames ECI!
That is absolutely amazing! It will force the EU to discuss the content of the initiative! Hopefully it will spark a broader discussion about ownership and licensing in the digital age.

I got a bit stuck after starting my account here, trying to figure out what I should put in my very first message. I guess I felt it would set the tone for what I'll be posting in the future. And to be honest, I don't really know what I want from this place. Happy for suggestions of what to expect!
