Thanks so much for sharing this, @chrischirp.bsky.social - really appreciate your kind words. And it turns out the BBC has quoted us in its official response:

The @demos-uk.bsky.social Our BBC report is rooted in solid evidence & analysis, & inputs from experts & stakeholders, so it is hugely gratifying to see that the #BBC quoted us twice in its own official response (see my read-along on - sorry - LinkedInπ)...

Does anyone know what to do when thereβs a swap #scam on #Vinted? My wife ordered something, but the package she received contained something else - the seller swears she sent the coat, Vinted want the label beneath the label (physically impossible to separate), & refusing to refund her.

And with the added pressure of the <ahem> fanopticonβ¦
(VAR, offside sensors, goal line visualisations, cameras from every conceivable angle, Zapruder footage of blatant fouls/cheating, refcam, shoecam, ballcam, the weird one on strings and pulleys)
And paging @emilybell.bsky.social...
Phew!
We must always guard against that - but I think the environment has changed a little, & this Green Paper is infinitely more supportive to the BBC than the last one, which is an opportunity. I mean it even says - bringing a tear to my jaded eye - that it is about more than fixing market failure!
Maybe! Once you remove the Sword of Damocles from over the BBC's head - i.e. give it a permanent Charter, & get the big picture defences for its independence & accountability right - we believe it will make it a healthier environment in which to test out how best to build on that!
@chrischirp.bsky.social, we drew on your essential UCL Policy Lab report on Strengthening the Institutions (which should be widely read and heeded!) in this @demos-uk.bsky.social report on the BBC.

And the full report by me, @hannahperry.bsky.social & @pollycurtis.bsky.social is here - including a fuller explanation of why the BBC is our most crucial public interest technology organisation and anchor of our digital sovereignty:

In short:
- remove 10-year limit on the BBCβs Charter
- streamline & modernise Reviews of the BBC
- recognise BBC as public interest tech organisation
- make Board appointments independent
- take funding decisions out of political control
- involve citizens in governance
