Oh sure, I’m at AWP. “Amy’s Writing Picnic.” I’m making revision notes on a whole draft today with occasional breaks for cheese plates and walkies.

I wrote about the first national book banning bill, which effectively seeks to erase trans people. At the end I include a link to let your reps know that you oppose this bill and all it stands for. lithub.com/why-we-must-...
(Still not a substitute for reporters in the room, to be super clear about what I’m saying. Just feeling a little defensive about public records. 🙂)
I will say that clerks adhering to professional ethics should be producing an objective record, including things that might not be flattering to their org. My obligation to was to the public and posterity, not the elected officials. Not the same as journalism, but not just glossing over stuff.
I think we agree. I totally agree that journalists should be in the room. Neither the minutes nor the meeting video are going to pick up on pre-meeting chatter, etc.
I just think it’s silly of Patch to produce a tool that sounds like it’ll duplicate work already in the public record. Stenography.
Reporters used to read our agendas and show up for the items they wanted to report on, which sounds so old-timey but it was 2019!
Journalists. Public if they want to.
I’m a (lapsed) board-certified municipal clerk, I do know not every detail is in the minutes but I bet they do a better job documenting the meeting than an AI watching the video.
They could just try reading the minutes?
Attorneys will argue Friday in court over whether a judge should delay enforcement of a state law that invalidates driver’s licenses and birth certificates for those who changed their gender marker and restricts bathroom use based on sex assigned at birth. #ksleg kansasreflector.com/2026/03/03/k...
Trans people squad up and come hard at anyone who fucks with them online because it is not an exchange of ideas for them, it is their actual human lives and deepest identity and physical safety and right to citizenship.
It’s great (derogatory) that you can work very hard to find out something incredibly important, and the main response you will get is a derisive “Gee, I’m shocked.”
Somebody has to ACTUALLY DO THIS WORK! You can’t pursue justice by going “Your honor: I mean, duh.”
So when thousands of women (and children) were being duplicated--including in non-consensual AI porn--it was no big deal. But it took "only a 15-sec clip" of these two famous white men to draw outrage and fear. Gotcha. Cool cool.
I’ve been doing postcards to voters and I always just hope the people who get them are like “obviously handwriting is hard for this person but they did this anyway.”

This post appears to be a searing examination of manipulating advertising and a plea not to participate in the increasingly creepy for-profit surveillance state.

This ad was truly a test of the nations critical thinking skills.
Love dogs, hate the surveillance state.

An amazing MN Librarian assembled us a reading list to add to the website so people can do more than donate, they can learn to organize in their communities.

Also it was written in the 1870s. Like, I’d be hard pressed to find a train to throw myself under.
While independent bookstores are giving out free whistles, hosting protest sign making events, and donating proceeds to mutual aid, Amazon is *checks notes* providing technology that assists ICE in their terrorizing of communities.
