Photo of a few square inches of tree trunk. Growing on the tree trunk are several grey lichens (growing flat on tree), a lichen that looks like a bunch of tiny egg yolks, and a bright red fungus that looks like a half dozen or so round/oval red blobs.

A few square inches of tree trunk. At least 4 species of lichens (Parmelia, two Physcia species and Caloplaca) plus Red Tree Brain Fungus. #lichen #fungi #fungifriends.

You know, I think I need to lean into my 'brand' - or at least the brand the statue pfp crowd thinks I have.

So, This week on the blog! Ancient Mercenaries were multicultural and woke!

(They were multicultural, but perhaps not woke).

Apparently I've shared this before but reflecting again, I think it's most pertinent that people hate their "normal" preferences becoming less normal. There are loads of people in the world for whom normal was never an option and you generally don't see this from them. They want to be acconodated.

I doubt the goal was to scare everyone. Just to scare enough. How many people can they make just nervous enough to stay home.

So..what does this mean? Can the administration take this to the Supreme Court? Is there possibly some sort of punishment and/or restitution for what's been done?

I understand, but (Anecdotal)the look on older black people's faces when white people go on about how did we end up here. We've done amazing things but I feel it's a disservice to ignore the people hurt on the way to the fascist state we are. I don't suppose rallying cries are very nuanced though. πŸ˜”

My non professional tip for adding Alt Text to an image is to pretend you want to show me something on your screen and you yell "Arnica, come see this!"

And I reply "Babe, I'm frying you homemade donuts, can you just DESCRIBE it to me?"

Whatever you would holler to me is the Alt text!

You're right, but it can be hard to do everything logically these days. I don't even know if that's how the poster felt or they were just making a dick comment, but it can be very hard.

In general it seems like no, it was only the pope using papyrus at this point. Paper reached Egypt in large quantities in the 10th century and Egyptian papyrus production declined rapidly. Norman Sicily was probably the last papyrus producer and supplied the pope into the 11th century.

Happy GΓ€vlebocken season! Every year since 1966, GΓ€vle, Sweden, has erected a massive version of Scandinavia's traditional straw Yule goat. It is so attractive to vandalsβ€”particularly arsonistsβ€”that in the previous 59 years, only 17 goats have survived fully intact. Good luck in 2025, GΓ€vlebocken!
