Before switching to biology and genetics in my PhD, I actually really liked geology while in my MSc and BSc (my secondary specialisation was in marine geology, as an oceanography student). Even now, I sometimes wish I became geologist instead!
For now, just type in mass of your sample and mass of each component (silt, clay, sand) and get your sample printed automatically on the ternary chart. You can download them and your data table easily.
However, I would like to add various classification in the future such as Shepard, Folk as well as others that account for more grain fraction sizes/chemistry.
My initial goal was to build an app that calculates types of sediments and soil based on grain fraction percentages input by the user. For now, I settled for USDA soil classification which is available in ggtern R package. My main goal was to learn Shiny β¨
I use R programming since a long time, I have never tried #R/Shiny or for that matter I have t really programmed any UI software before.
This is my first Shiny app - it uses soil classification ternary chart and plots samples.
Sounds very interesting! :)
I am interested!
If you know anyone #hiring soon, please contact me here or on LinkedIn. I am interested in positions in #Sweden and beyond.
I would appreciate any reposts!
I would also love to apply for my own grants in near future.
I have a good skills with #computationalbiology analysis (R, UNIX, Python, some MATLAB), and #NGS pipelines (Plink, Bowtie2, etc).
Hi #academicbsky
The job market is really tough here in Sweden, and Iβm keep searching for new positions. I am interested in #postdoc and possibly also other research or teaching jobs.
I am the most happy to work on projects in population or quantitative #genetics, #marineecology and #evolution.

Yesterday I deleted my Twitter account for good.
Meanwhile, here is a drawing of a chickadee, which I made some time ago.
Iβm currently searching for a new research position. I am the most happy to work on projects involving population or quantitative genetics, marine ecology or taxonomy, with focus on invertebrates. I am also passionate about marine algae.
I want to expand my skills in Data science, machine and deep learning ππ» Iβll be extra happy for any advices on what to begin with, building on my background as geneticists and oceanographer (marine ecology).

Happy New Year everyone!
As the year 2025 starts, Iβm considering completely new career paths. I have always liked to work with Data in biology and ecology. (1/2)
Recently I had my first experience to teach graduate students!
I taught introductory course to R and assisted students in Genetics-related calculations π©βπ«π

Hope to re-connect with the ex-Twitter scientific community! My account was swarmed by bots, but hope to have better experience on Bsky!
