There’s a shit-ton of bands playing Aftershock in Sacramento this fall, so I wanted to make sure my peeps noticed the delicious rap sandwich that Friday. Cypress Hill, PE and Wu-Tang back to back!
I’ve rationalized it’s a relatively benign way for the kiddo to experience late elementary school boy energy, and he’s less psychotic than Calvin in hindsight, but this pipsqueak might be my least favorite “new-to-me” character introduced by parenthood so far. So far.
It’s completely ok to feel a sense of validation when the toxicity you experienced in isolation is now a matter of public record. You don’t have to overthink it, or judge yourself. Your brain’s gonna ricochet for a while taking it in.
It’s notable the rare times those with power have bothered to show their muscle this term, usually around tariffs. They’re truly picking and choosing when to rock the boat, and revealing how few of us, and how little of what we value, is in “the boat.”
And his rep is being unspeakably, astonishingly serious in interviews. Neither that “I love to work” cavalierness nor that “actors are whores” self-loathing. He’s just earnestly committed wherever he lands. I just realized this is a Suspect Zero reunion, too! (“One thumb up!”)
I honestly wonder if he’d do Weird Al’s Gandhi II if the price was right.

Speaking of King (though it’s an actor headcanon trilogy not director), I was thrilled when Thomas Jane got to make 1922 after Dreamcatcher and The Mist.
Almost pitched Carpenter’s Kurt Russell is a BAD-ASS trilogy but didn’t know about Elvis, haven’t seen escape from LA, and didn’t know NY came before The Thing. The Thing/Escape NY/Big Trouble would have worked though.
