It’s @greggrosenthal.bsky.social game and the Greggular season, but can some strategic team/player matches devised by the rest of the gang topple his reign?!

@jourdanrodrigue.bsky.social spent time at the 2026 NFL Combine talking to these scouts regarding how they shape their teams and the draft.

Although most NFL scouts fly under the radar even inside their own buildings, their scouting reports shape the entire league.
During the long days of the combine, they often move in small packs.
So, how does it all work?
Scouting reports reveal how an organization thinks, its evaluation language and its process toward decision-making. Many are also full of inside jokes like tagging a profile with a picture of Eddie Haskell if a scout thinks a player is being dishonest (or 🦖 for SHORT ARMS)
That’s real range lol
This story on how NFL scouts actually put together their scouting reports rules. Don’t miss the details on what emojis they use. (Via @jourdanrodrigue.bsky.social) www.nytimes.com/athletic/706...
Before a player is an NFL draft pick, he is the subject of a scouting report.
These, and the scouts that build and evolve them, are the DNA of a roster.

I always learn something neat out of the combine but this year was especially rewarding as I got to spend much of the week in one of my favorite pastimes: bugging scouts about how they do their jobs. Story out tomorrow!
He plays both! If I’m remembering right great year 2 seasons ago on the outside
Not gonna assume the calculus before they hit the grass
Trent McDuffie gives Rams a really solid presence on the outside. They love to load up in nickel and dime but with safeties these days; having a top CB who can hold down the perimeter allows them to keep the math on their side (although he could kick inside in a pinch).
Kyler Murray's time in Arizona will soon be coming to an end.
@jourdanrodrigue.bsky.social had this nailed a month ago. I think it sets up a very difficult needle for Jones and a win-now '26 Colts team to thread.
Here comes ~the tweet~
Like so many of my other (and even more talented) colleagues, I’m now a *free agent*
Many of you probably know I left Fox Sports (.com) back in September & amid all the layoffs at Marquee, my contract wasn’t renewed.
Lions GM Brad Holmes acknowledged that Montgomery was unhappy with a diminished role in 2025 as Jahmyr Gibbs became the clear top back.
Montgomery had just 158 rush attempts last season, the fewest of his career.

put his ass in the dirt queen
I don’t personally like the tag but if they get to that point it feels like they’re spending for time (including monitoring recovery).
What I heard about the Eagles at the combine, including...
- The latest with A.J. Brown
- DeVonta Smith buzz
- What to expect in free agency
- Context for the NFLPA grades
- Sean Mannion excitement
..and more! Read on @theathletic.com:

using Leonard as bridge until Jones can safely play. Quality of return should affect contract extension for a smart team (tough luck for player).
Mentioned on Daily the other week I actually thought Jones was the candidate for a tag, even more so than Pierce. We’ll see what happens but my thought was basically buying themselves a year to keep him/his recovery in house and see how this goes before extension + whatever you get in ‘26…and
Our James Boyd is reporting that the Colts are considering the transition tag for Daniel Jones with some really good reported context as to why: www.nytimes.com/athletic/707...

61 total NFL combine nuggets, four GM interviews and one embarrassing fall in two fun days of NFL Daily with @greggrosenthal.bsky.social - and more to come: landing.podtrac.com/nfldaily
Ah yes, the NFL combine. Shrimp cocktails, quarter zips, whisper networks, the horrifying rumination each night over possibly being awkward in small talk settings, “did you meet with x team?” (everyone meets with everyone for the love of god), also some football happens. Let’s ride, my friends. 📍
Quarter zip convention begins anew!
I, for one, am stunned 🙄
Well done. The Gaudreau kids w Team USA. Says it all.
